Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition that is caused due to the impairment in glucose metabolism. This impairment is due to the improper utilization of the insulin secreted in the body. This is the most common type of diabetes and Middle-Aged and older people are the most affected.

Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is usually diagnosed with the help of blood tests - HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, and oral glucose tolerance test.
Treatment for type 2 Diabetes mellitus involves medications, diet control, statin and insulin therapy, and regular physical exercise.
At present, there is no cure for type 2 Diabetes mellitus but it can be well managed with anti-diabetic medications and diet.
