Humbled and Proud to share that on this February 15 - Got covered in Times of India Ahmedabad to spread awareness about cancers in children. Briefly discussed myths, emphasized that cure rates for childhood cancers are very high. Also focussed that for each child treatment is individualized. Highlighted the advances in care including targeted therapies, immunotherapies, stem cell transplant and CAR-T Cell Therapy.

Rare case of EBV Virus causing Generalized Lymphadenopathy

A young child travelled to us from East Africa with concern that he has a LYMPHOMA. He came to our center with family in panic. We reassured the family and started our work up. On examination child had generalized lymphadenopathy but had no other symptoms typically seen in Lymphoma patients. We did our biopsy and viral tests and the child had a EBV Virus induced Infectious mononucleosis causing generalised lymphadenopathy. The family was counselled that there is no LYMPHOMA and they were relieved. Patient received supportive care needed for viral infections and recovered with dispappearance of lymphadenopathy.

EBV associated Infectious mononucleosis is a rare cause of generalized lymphadenopathy especially in patients of african descent.

Was Humbled to be part of Bone Marrow transplant awareness activities with local medical community and social organizations.

Our goal was to raise awareness about availability of advance treatments like bone marrow (Stem Cell) Transplant and CAR-T Cell therapy for blood disorders and Cancers.

One of the most aggressive forms of cancer

BURKITT LYMPHOMA

This is a cancer that practically doubles every 8 to 12 hours. Our patient was a young child who was treated at our center promptly with chemotherapy. Treatment is challenging with possibility of serious complications. Patient was treated under special care needed for pediatric cancer patients and tolerated treatment well and completed it.

He is currently healthy and cancer free.. Such a great feeling to follow up this kid in our clinic with family.
Continue to need Divine blessings to be able to treat cancers in children.

Pediatric Cancer Success Stories

A young boy from Nairobi kenya, who was referred to our center from Pediatric oncologist in their country. He is a patient with high risk T cell Leukemia (Blood cancer) seen most commonly in children, adolescents and young adults. We advised him and started his treatment which he tolerated very well and returned home after few cycles of treatment to continue rest of the care back home.

Pediatric cancer care needs multidisciplinary approach and sometimes patient travels across countries for treatment. Most cases of pediatric leukemia can be cured when treated under expert care of a Pediatric Oncologist with experience of treating cancers in children with compassion and care that a child deserves.

STEM CELL TRANSPLANT SUCCESS STORIES

Proud to be part of a state of the art multidisciplinary team taking care of pediatric bone marrow transplant patients.

Above patient was a case of high risk AML from Tajikistan and was also treated extensively in Russia and was referred to our center for allogeneic transplant with his sibling as donor.

Takeways
1 - Pediatric Bone marrow transplants are very safe and highly effective for blood cancers
2 - Young children can be stem cell donors and carry no risk due to the donation.

This patient was treated successfully and returned home and then came for follow up after 1 year and recent tests showed his transplant to be 100% successful.

Want to thank almighty for giving us strength to treat patients and blessing for our survivors.

Gratitude for being given the oppprtunity to treat cancers and blood disorders.

The above photo is of a young boy with a very aggressive brain tumor - medulloblastoma. This cancer requires a very specialized multidisciplinary care with Pediatric Oncologist , Neurosurgeon and Radiation oncologist. Role of each member of the team is absolutely crucial. Thanful to be part of such a wonderful team.

The child was treated 2 years back by our team and came to visit me and i felt so humbled by his gesture..

Honored to be invited as a faculty in the Sickle Cell and Hemophilia Conference held this year in Kisumu, Kenya.

This is the annual conference for sickle cell in Kenya. Amazed to see such a vibrant participation and the energetic involvement of sickle cell warriors.

Got the opprotunity to meet all the local stakeholders and had such an engaging discussion with the local treating pediatricians, internists and pediatric hematologists.

Was invited to share my experiences of stem cell transplant in sickle cell patients and whats new in the pipeline for these kids including gene therapy.

Childhood Cancer Success Stories:

More than 3 years ago was part of the treating team as the Pediatric Oncologist to treat a very large kidney tumor (Wilms Tumor) in a 3 year old child who weight around 10 kg

One of the largest Wilms tumor to be operated and treated at such a young age. The child is currently doing fine.

This is the newspaper coverage at that time due to the rarity of the tumor.

Wilms tumor is the most common kidney tumor in children and has excellent outcomes.
