Locking of knee can occur due to meniscus tear & old ACL injury. Arthroscopic meniscus repair surgery has always given a better outcome. Tear of front prat of meniscus can be repaired with special instruments. Stability of knee is very important & so one has to reconstruct ACL or PCL to prevent occurrence of tear. Before 2 days this young patient of ours finished running in Adani marathon at Ahmedabad. She underwent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and advance cartilage regeneration surgery - Autologous cartilage implantation (ACI) at Aash arthroscopy center in February - March 2014. We are very proud of her achievement and wish that she will bring more laurels to herself and to her family.

Game of rugby was the cause of injury to ACL & PCL with both meniscus tear in this 20 yrs old collegian who consulted us 5 months after injury & multiple falls. His Posterior Cruciate ligament (PCL) was reconstructed using Bone-patella-tendon bone graft which is hardly done in the world. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was reconstructed by using hamstring graft from the same side. Both menisci were saved by taking multiple stitches into them. He also has opposite knee injury that might require ligament reconstruction surgery.

The patient was allowed full weight bearing walking after 10 days and without walker after 1 month. Within 5 weeks the knee became so stable that we asked him to walk 2-3 km./day and to start climbing stairs.

Postoperative x-ray showed the excellent placement of a
B-PT-B graft in PCL tunnel. Bioscrews were used to fix the grafts.

Andy Murray former world no.1 tennis player recently underwent Arthroscopic hip surgery for his chronic hip pain and not able to play.The most likely diagnosis for a player of such magnitude have two hip pathologies. Hip labral tear or FAI (femoral acetabular impingement) unless until there was an old fracture. Both these problems can be very nicely treated with minimal invasive arthroscopic surgery.

Torn labrum can be removed or repaired with special device & sutures. FAI is usually due to overgrowth of bone that is burred & made normal.Hip arthroscopy has advanced to such an extent that loose pieces can be removed and few fractures of acetabulum are fixed under vision.

It is of special value in synovitis hip especially in children where open hip surgery can be avoided for taking biopsy or synovectomy.Murry should be able to resume practice within 3-4 months. Aash arthrosocpy center wishes him a speedy recovery.

Dr. Lars Blond, an orthopedic surgeon from Copenhagen, Denmark was Guest of ASMAG ( Arthrosocpy & Sports medicine association oF Gujarat ) at Ahmedabad. Dr. Blond is an authority on Patella ( kneecap) problems, ACL injuries, Shoulder rotator cuff tears & shoulder dislocations. He is an inventer of
" Arthrosocpic trochleoplasty' procedure for treatment of recurrent dislocations of Patella due to shallow trochlea. He was kind enough to examine few patients at Aash arthroscopy centre. In a meeting with almost 40 orthopedic surgeons of Gujarat, he discussed about varoius aspects of Patella pathologies & how to deal with it. He also actively participated in discussion of two live surgeries on Patella in young children ( 10 years & 13 years). He also enjoyed our hospitality.

Harish Kumar Verma, a physically challenged Asian as well as National champion in ' Arm wrestling' is being treated by Aash arthroscopy center for his various sports injuries for last few years.

Before going for his recent championship at Kyrgyzstan in June 2017, he injured his 'playing' elbow. It was so painful that he was not able to practice. Prolotherapy treatment was given to him for his triceps tendinitis. He recovered so well that not only he could participate in the world championship but also won one gold and one silver medal in his category. Aash arthroscopy center is proud to associate with this great athlete from Ahmedabad who has been our loyal patient since January 2005.

We wish him all the best for his future tournaments and we request Gujarat government as well as Indian government to help such self-made athletes.
