Marengo CIMS Radiation Oncology department is pleased to share the good news.
We have treated 2 lung lesions in a single patient with total dose of 50 Gy in 5 fractions using SBRT (Stereotactic Body RadioTherapy).

Patient has carcinoma breast with lung metastasis.
Two separate lesion in left upper and left lower lobes.

Challenges:
1. Upper lobe lesion was smaller but close to great vessels.
2. Lower lobe lesion was bigger and peripherally situated hence subject to motion with each breath.

We did SBRT planning using ABC - Active Breath Control, where radiotherapy is delivered when specific calculated air volume is present in lungs.
We also used Hexa-POD which gave us 6 degrees of freedom, helped us to achieve sub-millimeter accuracy-precision during setup and treatment.

Patient tolerated treatment excellently. She came smiling - she went home smiling giving blessing to our whole department.

Special thanks to our medical physicists who enthusiastically completed the challenge with help of experience & technology and medical technologists who are great combination of experience, dedication and hard work. These are the strong pillars of out department which make this highly complex, accurate and precise treatment possible.

Thanks to nursing staff to help & make patient comfortable during the course of treatment, front desk for smoothly managing daily schedule & support staffs who helped us in need.
