When we talk about Health, we often think of sugar as the number one culprit. Table sugar has a Glycemic Index of approx 65 , Glucose has GI of 100. Glycemic Index is the ranking of carbohydrates based on their immediate effect on blood sugar levels. The higher the GI , higher would be the spike in sugar levels.
But is there anything that has a much higher Glycemic Index than sugar ?
Yes and that is MALTODEXTRIN an ingredient used in most of the packaged foods including the so called Health Foods such as Digestive biscuits , Nutrition Bars , sauces , salad dressings , beverages , candies, breads, etc.
Maltodextrin is used as a filler or thickener to add texture or sweetness in many of our day to day products. It is also used as a bulking agent in powdered products.

People suffering from diabetes , obesity , liver issues and celiac patients should avoid products with Maltodextrin. This is a Carbohydrate that's not classified as sugar but acts worse than sugar.
