60 year old female
Fall on ground , slippage history
Fracture proximal tibia diagnosed.
Locally treated with medicine & plasters for 3 months...
At the time of presentation, first xray suggestive of no signs of union... after clinical evaluation varus angulation at fracture site , tenderness & swelling+ ve
Management option -
1. ORIF+plating+ bone grafting
2. Ilizarov fixation & compression
I choose 2nd one ,bcoz -
1. 99% of successful rate
2. minimal chance of infection ...
3. No need of bone grafting
4 No need of bed rest ( able to perform daily routine activity)
In 2month & 21days bone get united ... dynamization did at 2 month post op..
Now patient can able to walk without support.
No fracture site- tenderness, swelling & also varus deformity corrected...
In xray good amount of callus & healing seen without deformity
