Dr BRAmbedkar Center for Biomedical Education & Research Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Education and Research (ACBER) aimed as a unique autonomou or M.D.-Ph.D.

Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Education and Research (ACBER) aimed as a unique autonomous Institute, and a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences, chemistry, bioinformatics and physics. The Institute’s laboratories aimed to conduct both clinical and basic research and study a diverse range of biological and biomedical problems with the mission of improving the understanding of life for the benefit of Mankind or humanity. Founded in 1991 by Prof Ramesh Chandra with the help of Government of India, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR) at University of Delhi, the ACBR, Institute for Bio-Medical Research was the country’s first institution devoted exclusively to biomedical research. However, in this new Institute, ACBER, it is intended to found a Hospital by 2017, as the first hospital devoted exclusively to clinical research. In the 2016, the institute will expand its mission to include graduate education and begin training new generations of scientists to become research leaders around the world. In 2020, it is proposed to be renamed as autonomous University having the status of Institute of National Importance. The ACBR at University of Delhi, established by Prof Ramesh Chandra is a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences. However, due to Delhi University’s interference, its laboratories could not develop and conduct both clinical and basic research and study a diverse range of biological and biomedical problems with the mission of improving the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity as mandated. However, at ACBER, which is a completely new entity currently running its activities from Allahabad in collaboration with other international laboratories. Founded in 1991 by Prof Ramesh Chandra, the Institute for Bio-Medical Research (ACBR) was the country’s first degree awarding institution devoted exclusively to biomedical research. The University’s V.P.Chest Institute Hospital was a supporting Institution in addition to other city hospitals, and ACBR faculty devoted to clinical research in a limited way due to bureaucratic interferences and hurdles created by the CEO of the University, to make ACBR nonfunctional and efforts to convert it into a small department or completely close it due to their ego, professional jealousies and lack of vision. The new Institute envisages to be supported by a combination of government and private grants and contracts, private philanthropy and income from the endowment. Since its founding, The ACBER has embraced an open structure to encourage collaboration between disciplines and empower faculty members to take on high-risk, high-reward projects. No formal departments will exist, bureaucracy will be kept to a minimum and scientists will be given resources, support and unparalleled freedom to follow the science wherever it leads. It is expected that this unique approach to science will lead to some of the world’s most revolutionary contributions to biology and medicine based on social surveys data. Throughout ACBR’s history, the institute founded by Prof Ramesh Chandra at Delhi University, its scientists have won several national and international awards and garnered the Medals of Science under his leadership during last two decades. In a less than 10 years, ACBER, will serve as an essential link between laboratory investigation and bedside observation, as patients will be participants in clinical studies building on basic research findings from ACBER laboratories. This continuous spectrum of research will allow for in-depth study of the basis of disease detection, prevention and observation. Prof Ramesh Chandra’s Graduate Program will be based on the concept of learning science by doing science, and will be custom tailored to its individual students and will attract a diverse group of exceptional scientists from around the world. The ACBER objective is also to offers one of the nation’s top M.D.-Ph.D. programs with neighbouring Medical Colleges with the permission of MCI, Government of India and other regulatory bodies. In addition to the graduate program, there will be other learning/training opportunities available, including postdoctoral research, fellowships for the Center for Studies in Bio-Physics and Chemical Biology, Social Science and the Clinical Scholars Program, a master's degree for recent M.D. recipients to begin careers in patient-oriented research.
