Case Summary – Iliofemoral DVT Treated with Penumbra Lightning 12F System
With acute iliofemoral DVT causing significant limb swelling and edema. Given his young age and long life expectancy, advanced endovascular therapy was advised to reduce clot burden and prevent Post-Thrombotic Syndrome. Initially considered for AngioJet Rheolytic therapy, the patient sought a second opinion at Medanta, Delhi, and opted for the latest Penumbra Lightning 12F thromboaspiration system — known for superior clot evacuation, minimal blood loss, and fewer bleeding risks. The procedure was performed emergently to prevent further complications, including clot progression and pulmonary embolism . All this process is performed at Yash Hospital, Prayagraj.
