Sc******ng Gait in Older CP Patients: Treatment & Case Insights

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2iewiWQQ6Y&t=3s

Sc******ng gait is a spastic CP walking pattern caused by tight hip adductors (and often hamstrings), hip subluxation, and weakened pelvic control. It can lead to balance problems, developmental issues, and long-term deformities if not treated.

Management by age group:

Young kids: Focus on reducing spasticity with medication or injections, combined with physical therapy, orthotic devices like braces or walkers to retrain gait.

Older kids: May require surgery (e.g., adductor lengthening or selective dorsal rhizotomy), followed by therapy and bracing to restore proper walking.

Early and tailored therapy—targeting spasticity reduction and correct gait patterns—significantly improves mobility and function.

Our Story

Trishla foundation registered on 12th August 2014 as a formal charitable organization to provide world-class rehab facility to the individual affected with any kind of disability from all sections of society with special focus on poor and socially deprived populations, and to promote research in the field of pediatric physical disability especially cerebral palsy and provide training to health worker and parents of disabled children. Our aim is to bring them to the mainstream of life by making them physically and functionally independent. Till now the parents of these children are coming from nearly every state of the country and getting rehabilitation along with training so that when they go back they can continue therapy at home. Now in this phase of Covid-19, we have closed our centers at prayagraj so we have started an online webinar on page to give training to parents of these children with cerebral palsy. Our future planning is to develop into a world-class rehab and research center in the field of orthopedic physical disability. To fulfill our dream, we have started construction of the first phase of CP Village “ a place for parents of children with multiple disabilities especially cerebral palsy “ where they can stay temporarily for few months, get rehab of their child, training in Activity of daily life & education, can get treatment from all medical fraternity at one place. This cp village construction has started on 14th June 2019 at the Prayagraj- Partapgarh highway 16 kilometer from the city. In the initial phase rooms for 76 families and rehab center is being constructed. All the contributions to the trishla foundation are exempted from income tax under 80G.
