Next time you say it’s just diabetes or little sugar problem I have remember this picture in your mind. This patient has a severe gangrene (The death of tissue often occurs in the extremities or skin from loss of blood supply) also known as diabetic foot just because he had a poor diabetes control as well as poor foot care and now heading towards foot amputation!!

This is just one of the complications amongst so many other of Diabetes Mellitus but will give you one strong reason to have a good sugar control!!

With just a day to go, KARWA CHAUTH is just round the corner. So lovely ladies here are a few diet tips that you can follow for a happy fasting:-
1. Include lots of fruits like banana, Apple and pomegranate in your Sargi.
2. Avoid oily and excessively fried foods as they will make you feel dizzy and even thirsty... try something like a stuffed roti or a multigrain roti instead of parantha with vegetables or paneer.
3. Avoid strong tea or coffee in the morning as they tend to dehydrate you in the latter part of the day. Instead try a glass of milk, buttermilk or fresh juice.
4. Avoid mithai/sweets instead opt for figs or dates.
5. Munch on a few nuts like almonds or walnuts.
6. And don't forget to drink 2-3 glasses of water at the start of your day

Fruits are man's best friend and there are no two ways about it. Considered to be a superfood, fruits are the most natural source of essential nutrients our body needs. Fruits are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fibre, protein, flavonoids etc and have several health benefits. Hence, its recommended adding at least one bowl of fresh, seasonal fruits to our everyday diet. Besides being healthy, it also keeps us full for longer and makes for a healthy option to munch on to satiate our mid-day hunger pangs.
