७ वर्षांचा त्रास आणि शस्त्रक्रियेची भीती... पण आज आयुष्य बदलले!
श्रीमती ज्योती जगताप यांची ही कहाणी आहे. मागील ५-७ वर्षांपासून त्या मणक्याच्या आजाराने त्रस्त होत्या. चालणे अवघड झाले होते, तसेच घरातील साधी कामे करणेही कठीण झाले होते. अनेक डॉक्टरांनी शस्त्रक्रिया (Spine Surgery) सुचवली होती, पण मनातील भीतीमुळे त्या शस्त्रक्रिया टाळत होत्या.
अखेर त्या डॉ. श्रीकांत दहिभाते (Endospine Clinic) यांच्या संपर्कात आल्या. डॉक्टरांनी त्यांना शस्त्रक्रियेचे फायदे समजावून सांगितले आणि त्यांच्या मनातील भीती पूर्णपणे दूर केली. डॉ. दहिभाते यांच्यावर विश्वास ठेवून त्या शस्त्रक्रियेसाठी तयार झाल्या.

A *Sri Lankan citizen* residing in *Australia* contacted me with persistent back and leg pain. He had already undergone two spine surgeries and was hopeful that *Endoscopic Spine Surgery* would finally relieve his symptoms. With tremendous effort, he arranged his visa, managed his academic commitments, gathered the necessary funds, and travelled all the way from *Australia to Aurangabad* for treatment.

After meeting him, I performed a detailed clinical evaluation along with essential investigations, including MRI and NCS. *However, his symptoms did not correlate with the MRI findings*, and it became evident that *he would not benefit from surgery*. Conveying this to him was not easy, especially considering the significant expenses he had already incurred for travel and accommodation.

Yet, after an open and thorough discussion, he understood the situation and returned to *Australia without undergoing surgery.*

The key message is this: *When clinical judgment clearly indicates that surgery will not help, it is our responsibility to uphold that decision regardless of how far a patient has travelled or how much effort they have put in.* Ultimately, the patient’s well-being must always come first.

Another significant milestone in MIS spine surgery.
Yesterday, I performed one of the most advanced and innovative spinal procedures OLLIF (Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion). This state-of-the-art technique provides indirect decompression by restoring alignment and disc height using a larger interbody cage.

The patient, a 55-year-old gentleman, presented with bilateral lower-limb pain, neurogenic claudication, and a very limited walking distance. He also had a noticeable list to one side. These symptoms were the result of L4–L5 facet effusion with secondary anterolisthesis.

With OLLIF, both pedicle screws and the interbody cage were placed percutaneously, ensuring minimal tissue disruption and faster recovery.

Postoperatively, the patient is completely relieved of leg pain, and his list has returned to normal.
