രസജ്ഞാ ഃ

രസജ്ഞാനമുളളവൾ.
കാവ്യരസജ്ഞാനമാകാം. രസങ്ങൾ ഒമ്പതാണല്ലോ. ഈ നവരസങ്ങളും യഥാർഹം യഥാവസരം പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുവാനുളള പാടവം ദേവിയിൽ സഹജമാണു.

'രസോ വൈ സഃ ' എന്നാണു ശ്രുതി. ബ്രഹ്മം രസം തന്നെ. ബ്രഹ്മസ്വരൂപിണിയായ ദേവിയും രസജ്ഞാനം തന്നെ.
മധുര, അമ്ല, ലവണ, കടു, കഷായ, തിക്ത ഭേദമായി നാവുകൊണ്ടറിയുന്ന രസങ്ങൾ ആറാണു. ആ രസത്തെ അറിയുന്നവൾ എന്നും മനസ്സിലാക്കാം.

Rasajna :

She who knows all the rasas.
Rasa is sentiment or emotion expressed in poetry.
Rasa is taste or desire for something. Every living being has the great taste for life itself - and Devi is verily the basis for that taste.

കാവ്യകലാ ഃ

കാവ്യകലാസ്വരൂപിണി.
കാവ്യം രണ്ടു പ്രകാരം. ദൃശ്യവും ശ്രാവ്യവും. കേൾക്കാവുന്നത് കാണാവുന്നത്. ഒന്നുകൂടിപ്പറഞ്ഞാൽ കാണാനും കേൾക്കാനും കൊളളാവുന്നത് കാവ്യം എന്നർത്ഥം.

അങ്ങനെയുളള കാവ്യകലാസ്വരൂപിണി. കാളിദാസൻ തുടങ്ങിയ കവീശ്വരന്മാർ ദേവിയുടെ കൃപാകടാക്ഷം കൊണ്ട് കവീശ്വരന്മാരായെങ്കിൽ ദേവീ കാവ്യകലാസ്വരൂപിണിയാണെന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ എന്താണു സംശയം.

Kavya kala :

She who is the art of poetry.
A kavya (poetic work) is of two kinds - that which is to be heard and that which is to be seen. A kavya may be described as a work that is fit to be heard and seen.

Devi is the embodiment of such poetry. When the most celebrated poets like Kalidasa have attained their status through Her grace, what doubt is there that She is the abode of that art ?

കലാനിധി ഃ

കലകൾക്കു ആകാരമായുളളവൾ.
ഭൂമിക്കടിയിൽ മറച്ചുവച്ചിട്ടുളള ധനമാണല്ലോ നിധി. അതുപോലെ ദേവിയിൽ എന്തെന്തു കലാസമ്പത്തുകളാണു ഒളിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുക.

കല = പ്രാണൻ. പ്രാണനു ആധാരഭൂതയായി വർത്തിക്കുന്നവൾ.
പ്രാണനെ ചിലർ ജീവൻ എന്നു തെറ്റിദ്ധരിക്കാറുണ്ട്. പ്രാണന്റെ ചലനത്തിനു ഹേതുഭൂതമാണു ജീവൻ. രണ്ടും രണ്ടു തന്നെ.
കലാനിധി = ചന്ദ്രൻ.
ചന്ദ്രമണ്ഡലം ദേവിയുടെ വിഹാരസ്ഥാനമാണല്ലോ. സ്ഥലനാമം കൊണ്ട് ആളുകളെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കും പോലെ ചന്ദ്രമണ്ഡലവാസിനിയായ ദേവിയെ കലാനിധി എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു.

കലയ്ക്ക് ശരീരമെന്നർത്ഥം. അങ്ങനെ ശരീരത്തെ നിലനിർത്തുന്ന നിധിയാണു ദേവിയെന്നും ഗ്രഹിക്കാം.
കലയ്ക്ക് തേജസ്സെന്ന അർത്ഥമെടുത്താൽ തേജസ്സിന്റെ മൂർത്തിമദ്ഭാവമാണു ദേവിയെന്ന് കിട്ടുന്നു.

Kala nidhih :

She who is treasurehouse of all arts.
How numerous indeed are the riches of art hidden in Devi, just as the wealth contained in a treasure buried underground!

Kala can also mean prana, the vital airs; Devi is the foundation for these.

Or, Kalanidhi means the moon. The moon's disc is a place where Devi dwells. Individuals are sometimes called by the name of the place they inhabit; She is called by the name of Her abode.

Kala means the "body". Devi is the treasure that sustains it. Kala also means brilliance; Devi is the abode of brilliance.

കാമരൂപിണി ഃ

കാമിക്കത്തക്ക രൂപത്തോടുകൂടിയവൾ.
കാമന്റെ - ശിവന്റെ - രൂപത്തോടുകൂടിയവൾ.
കാമദേവന്റെ രൂപത്തോടുകൂടിയവൾ എന്നും ഗ്രഹിക്കാം. യഥേഷ്ടം ഏതു രൂപവും ധരിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നവൾ എന്നു മറ്റൊരർത്ഥം.

K**arupini :

She who has a desirable form.
She who has the form of Kamesvara (Siva) or of K**a, the God of love.
She can asume any form (rupa) at will (k**a).

കാമധുക് ഃ

ആഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ പാലുപോലെ കറന്നു നൽകുന്നവൾ.
ദേവി കാമധേനുവിനെപ്പോലെ ഭക്തന്മാരുടെ ഏതാഗ്രഹത്തെയും ചുരന്നൊഴുക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് താൽപര്യം.

K**aduk :

She who fullfill all desires.
Devi fulfills the desires of Her devotees through the flow of the milk of Her grace, just as the celestial wish-fullfilng cow, K**adhenu.

കലാമാലാ ഃ

64 കലകളും മാലയാക്കി അണിയുന്നവളത്രെ ദേവി.
എല്ലാ കലകളുടെയും ചൈതന്യം ദേവിയാണെന്ന് താൽപര്യം.
കലാ + മാ + ലാ എന്നു പദം പിരിച്ചു, 'കല' പദത്തിനു സൗന്ദര്യമെന്നും 'മാ' എന്നതിനു മിന്നൽപ്പിണരെന്നും 'ല' എന്നതിനു അതോടുകൂടിയതെന്നും അർത്ഥം കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നു. മിന്നൽപ്പിണരിന്റെ സൗന്ദര്യത്തോടുകൂടിയവളെന്നും ശ്രീ ഭാസ്കരരായർ.

ഉപാസകനു പലപ്പോഴും മിന്നൽപ്പിണർപോലെയാണല്ലോ ദേവൊയുടെ ദർശനസൗഭാഗ്യം ലഭിക്കുക.

Kala mala :

She who wears all 64 forms of art as a garland.
Devi is the inner luster of all the arts. Bhaskararaya also gives the meaning, " She who possesses (la) the beauty (kala) of lightning (ma)." To the upasak, the gift of Devi's darsan often comes as flashes of lightning.

കപർദ്ദിനീ ഃ

ശിവന്റെ പത്നി.
കപർദ്ദം = ശിവന്റെ ജട. കപർദ്ദമുളളവൻ കപർദ്ദി - ശിവൻ.
കപർദ്ദം ധാത്രിയെന്നും സ്തുതിയെന്നും സൂതസംഹിതയിൽ അർത്ഥകൽപന കാണുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ കപർദ്ദിനിക്ക് പൃഥ്വീതത്ത്വത്തോടുകൂടിയവളെന്നും, സ്തുതിക്കപ്പെടുന്നവളെന്നും അർത്ഥം.

Kapardini :

She who is the wife of Siva.
Kapardin is Siva, the one who has kaparda or matted hair.
The Suta samhita gives the meanings, " mother " and " praise" for the word kaparda. Hence Kapardini is She who is the Mother Earth, or She who is the object of praise.

സാമരസ്യപരായണാ ഃ

സമരസത്തെ സംബന്ധിച്ചതു സാമരസ്യം.
സാമരസ്യം = സ്ഥിതപ്രജ്ഞത്വം.
സുഖദുഃഖങ്ങളിലും ലാഭനഷ്ടങ്ങളിലും ജയാപരാജയങ്ങളിലും മനസ്സിന്റെ സമനില തെറ്റാത്ത അവസ്ഥയാണു സ്ഥിതപ്രജ്ഞത്വം.

" ദുഃഖത്തിൽ ഉതകണ്ഠയില്ലാത്ത സുഖത്തിൽ വിശേഷാഭിമുഖ്യമില്ലാതെ കാമമോ, ക്രോധമോ, ഭയമോ ഇല്ലാതെ മനസ്സിനെ സമനിലയിൽ നിർത്തുന്നതത്രെ സ്ഥിതപ്രജ്ഞത്വം. " (ഗീത 2- 56) .
അതുതന്നെ സാമരസ്യം. ആ സാമരസ്യത്തിൽ മാത്രം മുഴുകിയിരിക്കുന്നവളെന്ന് മന്ത്രാർത്ഥം.

Samarasya parayana :

She who is immersed in a state of steady wisdom.
Samsara is the state of equanimity or steady wisdom(sthitaprajna), and samarasya pertains to that condition.

This state is one in which the mind doesn't lose its balance in happiness or pain, in profit or lose, in victory or defeat.
" He whose mind is not shaken by adversity, and who in prosperity does not pursue pleasures, who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady wisdom." (Gita 2.56). Devi is one who is immersed in that state of steady wisdom. This state of equanimity is also a state of identity of Siva and Sakti.

SLOKA : 791

സത്യജ്ഞാനാനന്ദരൂപാ ഃ

സത്യം, ജ്ഞാനം, ആനന്ദം ഇവയുടെ രൂപം പൂണ്ടവൾ. ബ്രഹ്മത്തിന്റെ സ്വരൂപലക്ഷണം - 'സത്യം ജ്ഞാനമനന്തം ബ്രഹ്മ' എന്നാണല്ലോ.

ഈ നാമത്തെ മറ്റൊരു പ്രകാരത്തിൽ വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുന്നു.
സതി +അജ്ഞ, ആനന്ദ + രൂപ = സത്യജ്ഞാനാനന്ദരൂപാ എന്ന്. സത്തിനു തത്ത്വജ്ഞാനമെന്നും അതിൽ അജ്ഞനായവനു അനാനന്ദത്തെ - ദുഃഖകരമായ അനുഭവങ്ങളെ പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവൾ എന്നും വ്യാഖ്യാനം. രൂപാ എന്ന പദം ദാനാർത്ഥത്തിലെടുക്കുന്നു.

സതി എന്ന പദം ദക്ഷപുത്രിയായ സതീദേവി എന്ന് കണക്കാക്കുന്നു. അപ്പോൾ സതീദേവിയിൽ - സാക്ഷാൽ ദേവിയിൽ - അജ്ഞരായവർക്ക് ദുഃഖപൂരിതമായ ലോകത്തെ പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവളെന്ന് ഗ്രഹിക്കാം.

Satya njanananda rupa :

She who is truth, knowledge and bliss.
Brahman is " Truth, knowledge and infinite Bliss." Devi is that Brahman.

This mantra is interpreted also as follows: sati+ajna+ ananda+rupa meaning, " She who gives (rupa) sorrow or pain (ananda) to those who are ignorant (ajna) of true wisdom (sati).
Sarti could also be Satidevi, daughter of Daksa, who is another form of Devi. Then, She is one who gives pain to those who are ignorant of Her true form.

പരാപരാ ഃ

പരയും അപരയുമായവൾ. പരം ബ്രഹ്മരൂപം അപരം ജഗദ്രൂപം.
ഒരേ സമയം ഇതു രണ്ടുമാണു ദേവി.
പരം - ആത്മജ്ഞാനം. അപരം - ഭൗതികവിജ്ഞാനം. അറിവ് ഏതും ബ്രഹ്മമാകയാൽ ജ്ഞാനവിജ്ഞാനസ്വരൂപിണിയാണു ദേവി.

ദേവ്യുപാസനയ്ക്ക് മൂന്ന് പിരിവുകളുണ്ട് - പരാപൂജ, അപരാപൂജ, പരാപരാപൂജ.
അദ്വൈതഭാവനയോടുകൂടിയ ധ്യാനനിഷ്ഠ പരാപൂജയത്രെ.
ശ്രീചക്രപൂജയാണു അപരാപൂജ.
പരാപരാപൂജയാകട്ടെ, വിവിധ ദേവതാകാരമനുസരിച്ചുളള പൂജയും.

ബോധത്തെയും പരാബോധം അപരാബോധം എന്നു തിരിക്കാം.
പരാ, പശ്യന്തി, മദ്ധ്യമാ എന്നീ രൂപങ്ങളിലുളള ബോധത്തെ പരാബോധമെന്നും ജാഗ്രത് സ്വപ്നങ്ങളിലെ വൈഖരിയെയും സുഷുപ്തിയിലെ ബോധത്തെയും അപരാബോധമെന്നും കരുതുന്നു.

Parapara :

She who is both para and apara.
Para is superior, apara is inferior. Para is great, apara is little. Para is truth, apara is myth. Devi is both of these opposites at once. While She is apara to the samsarin, She is para to the yogin.

Devi worship is also three kinds: para, apara and parapara. Meditation rooted in non-duality is parapuja. Worship of Sricakra is aparapuja. Paraparapuja is worship of various divine forms. Yoginihrdaya describes these modes of worship.

Consciousness is also divided into two types, para and apara. The consciousness in the form of para, pasyanti and madhyama is known as parabodha and the consciousness in the form vaikhari of the waking and dreaming states and the consciousness in the deep sleep is known as aparabodha.

നിസ്ത്രൈഗുണ്യാ ഃ

ത്രിഗുണങ്ങൾക്ക് അതീതയായവൾ.
ത്രിഗുണാത്മികയാണല്ലോ മായ. മായാതീതയായ ദേവി ത്രിഗുണാതീതയാണല്ലോ.

ശരീരബുദ്ധി നിലനിൽക്കുംവരെ മനുഷ്യനു ഗുണാതീതനാകാൻ സാദ്ധ്യമല്ല. ഗുണാതീതനാകാത്ത കാലത്തോളം അവനു നിർഗുണമോ നിരുപമോ ആയ ഒരു ശക്തിയെ ഉപാസിക്കാനുമാകില്ല.

ദേവി ജ്ഞാനാനന്ദഘനസ്വരൂപിണിയായതുകൊണ്ടാണു നിസ്ത്രൈഗുണ്യയായത്.

Nistraigunya :

She who is devoid of three gunas.
Maya is made up of three gunas. Devi is beyond Maya and transcends the gunas.

Man cannot transcend the gunas as long as he has body consciousness. Without transcending the gunas he will not be able to worship a power that is nirguna or free of all attributes.

Devi is described as beyond the gunas because She is pure, solid consciousness-bliss.
