Ever feel like your hormones are running the show? When they're in sync, everything's great—clear skin, no bloating, periods on schedule. But when they're off? It can feel like chaos. Browse through the images above for some straightforward, initial tips that may assist in restoring harmony.

East Asian Medicine (EAM) has some fantastic tools to help you balance your cycle and boost your overall health. First off, track your cycle! Whether you use a calendar or an app, knowing your pattern is super helpful for catching imbalances early.

By becoming familiar with the rhythms of your cycle and incorporating simple practices like regular movement, balanced meals, and good sleep, you can support your hormonal health and enhance your well-being. Feeling the heat already? You're not alone. Summer in the city can be intense—but it's also a beautiful time to align with the Fire Element, which invites us to lean into joy, movement, and connection (with others and ourselves).

When we honor the season’s energy while supporting our body's natural rhythms, we don’t just get through summer—we thrive in it.

And remember—summer is the season of the Heart. If you’ve been feeling off, anxious, or just a little disconnected, acupuncture can gently provide more balance.

Reach out anytime to schedule a session or ask a question—I’m always happy to support you.

Can Acupuncture Really Induce Labor?

Here’s what I’ve learned after over 16 years in women’s health and advanced perinatal training: Preparation for labor and delivery ideally starts well before the due date.

Acupuncture is a powerful tool—but when it’s used to “force” labor in a body that’s not ready, it can create stress and ineffective contractions.

A more supportive approach?

Start weekly acupuncture around 36 weeks.

In the post above, I’ve shared five key ways acupuncture can support you in late pregnancy—from softening and opening, to calming and strengthening. Each one is rooted in East Asian wisdom and the natural rhythms of this season of life.

When you feel safe and supported, you’re giving yourself the best opportunity for a birth experience you feel great about.

Headaches don’t have to be your everyday reality. Neither do migraines that knock you off your feet.

In East Asian Medicine we look at the whole picture: stress, sleep, hormones, digestion, and more.

Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, release tension, and reduce both the frequency and intensity of headaches.

It’s gentle, safe (even during pregnancy), and backed by research. For many of our patients, it’s the first thing that’s truly helped…and many of our patients use acupuncture alongside medication for the best possible management of symptoms.

You deserve that kind of care.

If you tend to feel bloated or sluggish after eating it might not just be about what you ate – too-snug clothing could be playing a role! "Tight Pants Syndrome" is a real thing, and it's your body's way of saying it needs more space.

When your clothes are too tight around your waist, it squeezes your digestive organs. That can slow things down, leading to bloating, indigestion and even constipation.

Swipe through the post above for some simple tips on how to ease bloating and fullness after meals and keep your digestion happy! Remember, simple changes can go a long way—take care of your gut, and it'll take care of you.

Springtime is Liver season! What does this mean for your health?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), each season has a dominant element and pair of body organs. Springtime corresponds to the Wood element and Liver and is all about growth, creativity, and movement—and when it’s in balance, you’ll feel inspired, energized, and flexible, both mentally and physically. When it’s out of balance, you might feel tense, stuck, or even frustrated (we often call this Liver Qi Stagnation).

Here are some simple ways to keep your Wood element in harmony this season:

Stretch and move daily. The Liver loves movement, so getting your body moving (even if it’s just a little stretch or walk) helps release tension.

Reduce screen time. The liver connects to the eyes in East Asian Medicine, so try to give them a break every once in a while.

Add fresh, spicy foods to your diet. As the weather warms, bring in a little raw food—like chives or green onions—which have a warming, "spicy" quality that supports the Liver.

Get creative. Whether it’s journaling, dancing, cooking, or taking photos, find a way to express yourself!

Try seasonal acupuncture or acupressure. If you’re feeling stuck or tense, acupuncture can help get the energy moving again.

We all know that a healthy diet and quality sleep are essential for our well-being. But did you know they influence each other more than we might realize? New research shows that our food choices, including meal timing, can directly impact sleep quality.

Thus far the research seems to agree with the wisdom of East Asian Medicine- eat at regular intervals throughout the day, avoid eating too close to bedtime and avoid excessive amounts of sugars and fatty, oily foods as part of an overall balanced diet. Prioritizing healthy habits throughout the day, not just before bed, can help you feel better, sleep better, and live better.

For more insights on this topic, check out Dr. Marie-Pierre St-Onge's new book Eat Better, Sleep Better or listen to her interview on the Sigma Nutrition Radio podcast episode #552.

In honor of Valentine's Day here are some fun facts about the Heart in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM):

• Considered the "Emperor" - the ruler of all other organs 👑
• Houses the Shen (Spirit), encompassing mind, emotions, and consciousness
• Governs the smooth flow of blood throughout the body
• A healthy Heart is reflected in a radiant complexion

When the Heart is in balance, we experience joy, peace, and overall vitality. Acupuncture can help to support these functions by reducing stress, improving sleep quality, and promoting overall emotional balance.
