We won our first resident union contract at —read all about it 😎

CIR members fought hard to get to this point. This momentum in the Midwest started at the beginning of the pandemic. UIC, Northwestern, and now UChicago all have secured major agreements that will help support us and the communities we serve here in Chicago!

While this is a victorious first step for H1B status holders currently working in the U.S., the fight is far from over. We're putting the Trump-Vance administration on notice: we will not be silent while you harm the working people who help keep this country running. From doctors to teachers, this dangerous proclamation will cause chaos in our communities, AND WE MUST ACT. In solidarity with our coalition partners, we will continue our lawsuit until the proclamation is fully blocked.

UMass housestaff reached a tentative agreement! We are proud of the collective action we took to make significant gains for housestaff and our patients in central Massachusetts.

From delivering petition signatures, to sending hundreds of emails to demand our Health Benefits Fund back, to speaking out at City Hall - we pushed Chan Medical School Memorial Medical Center
to negotiate a fair contract that values our commitment to high-quality patient care and our lives outside of work that we’re building in the Worcester community.

We know that UMass can’t advance without housestaff and during these past five months we demonstrated just that - and when we fight, WE WIN!

We were proud to stand with our nurse siblings at their rally on Thursday!

Solidarity to as they speak out to defend care and fight for a fair contract. New York’s hospitals need to prioritize our patients and communities, not executive pay and tech investments!

What an incredible night at the New York City is NOT FOR SALE rally yesterday, in support of our endorsed NYC gubernatorial candidate ! CIR doctors were out in full force—in the crowd, behind the podium, speaking on stage, and more!

As Dr. Graf said before the crowd of 13,000+, we do everything we can as doctors but know how much policy decisions directly impact the well-being of our patients. People need shelter, food, and basic security to be well. And here in NYC, we are building that vision.

This is a movement that we as doctors are proud to be a part of. And so glad to see and , leaders who have spoken out to support us and our ability to care for our patients.

Let’s keep the momentum going! Early voting is open NOW until 11/2 and Election Day is 11/4. Get out and VOTE!

CIR has joined with other labor unions and faculty associations representing University of California (UC) staff and faculty in filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration. The suit seeks to stop the administration's further use of financial threats to coerce the UC to enter into a settlement agreement similar to those in place at Columbia and other universities. We will not allow the administration to attack diversity, ban gender-affirming care for minors, or undermine free speech and academic freedom on our campuses and at our worksites. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.

CIR members in Pennsylvania have spoken! This November, three Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices are up for retention—a critical vote that could reshape the Court’s balance and directly impact our rights as workers.

The justices endorsed by our union have consistently upheld the rights of working people, including protecting union rights, enforcing workplace safety standards, and defending grievance procedures.

Right-wing interests, including billionaire Jeffrey Yass, are already pouring money into this race to unseat these justices. This November, CIR members are voting YES to retain these justices.

CIR members were out in full force this past weekend for the No Kings national day of action! We joined over 7 million workers and community members to make it loud and clear: NO KINGS in our country.

This isn’t business as usual—every day, we get news of more programs getting cut, our rights being stripped away, more surveillance, militarized forced use against us.

We are fully in the midst of an authoritarian takeover and we must meet the moment. As residents, we know how busy we are. But we are workers with a platform and power. CIR residents are 40,000 strong. Now is the time for all people to take action against fascism and the corporate/tech//billionaire forces hijacking our futures.

There will be many more actions to come—see you there ✊
