Yesterday, CIR members joined at Bellevue Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center.

We gathered to encourage fellow healthcare workers to vote for for NYC Mayor this November! The decisions made in the halls of power directly impact the well-being of our communities. And that is why we need leaders who support policies that put working families first!

CIR members had a ball at the NYC Labor Day parade this past Saturday! We walked Fifth Avenue with thousands of other union workers in the city to march, chant, and hold space with each other.

Solidarity is not only power but also JOY. In these dark times, we are reminded that the people united is one of the most powerful forces. CIR doctors are committed to stand with our fellow workers to build a world where everyone can be healthy and thrive!

These policy decisions are going to hit us all hard. But the 40,000 united physician workers of CIR are mobilizing to protect each of us and our communities. Just as we’ve organized thousands of new workers each year and secured major legislative victories, we are ready to take action to fight for our futures.

Here in California, we’re holding a special election to counter the authoritarian power grabs that we are witnessing. As Texas gerrymanders its maps to prop up Republicans, we’re taking initiative to neutralize these attacks on our democracy. Solidarity in action! Dr. Alex Cerjanic (Mass General Brigham neurology resident & CIR Regional Vice President) spoke in support of MGB primary care physicians. PCPs voted overwhelmingly to unionize with Doctors Council SEIU so they could protect patients and the future of primary care but MGB is refusing to recognize their union and come to the bargaining table.

CIR members joined with other healthcare workers, patients, and community allies to demand MGB honor the voice of their doctors. This is how we show up for each other and keep the most powerful hospital system in the country accountable to patients and the Boston community.

This administration is launching full scale assaults against working people, including with the recent budget bill. In the week leading up to Labor Day, CIR members across the country have been banding together to show our worker solidarity—from NY to CA, from IL to FL—to make it clear that we have the power to fight back!

Happy Labor Day! Today, we celebrate worker solidarity and the incredible contributions of the labor movement. We recognize that every right and protection we have today has been hard fought for and won by the people—not given out of the good will of those in power. The fight for labor rights is connected to the fight for justice everywhere.

Today, CIR members are joining Labor Day actions across the country. As working people face attacks from this administration, we must come together and mobilize to protect each other. A better world is possible where each of us can be safe, happy, and healthy. And the 40,000 physicians of CIR/SEIU are fighting for that future ✊

Residents at Children’s National delivered a petition signed by over 95% of residents demanding that the hospital come to the bargaining table with a fair offer on salary that demonstrates respect, recognizes their hard work and reflects increasing cost of living; and commit to create schedules that allow residents to provide the best patient care while maintaining their own lives outside of the hospital.
