We delivered 200 Christmas letters to Jackson Memorial Hospital CEO Mr. Migoya, emphasizing that a 4% COLA is not a luxury, but the difference between survival and stability. Don't be a grinch, Mr. Migoya—ensure your healthcare staff have what they need to thrive this holiday season and beyond.

🚨As of December 15, the government will require that social media accounts be switched from private to public for all H-1B, and their dependent H-4, visa applicants.
Consular officers are instructed to use all available information in visa screening and vetting to identify visa applicants who are inadmissible (i.e. ineligible for entry) to the U.S. including those who pose a threat to U.S. national security or public safety. This expanded screening already applies to J and F visa applicants (see that announcement of June 18, 2025 on our website: cirseiu.org/immigrant-rights)

It’s never been more important to keep hospitals like Kings County strong and safe for the working class communities we serve. That’s why CIR members were horrified to learn of a plan that would leave one of the country’s busiest ERs without a CT scanner for MONTHS. Sheldon Mcleod and Graham Gulian owe it to Brooklyn to listen to the doctors at the center of care and rethink their infrastructure plan, now!!

NYC Health and Hospitals must remain a refuge from our nations cruel, profit-driven healthcare system. That means SAFE care for our community, and admins who respond to concerns from the frontlines.

MGB-Spaulding Residents March on the Boss 🚴🏾✊🏾 This week Mass General Brigham residents at Spaulding Rehabilitation hospital delivered a petition demanding their right to store bicycles at work. Management arbitrarily reversed years of past practice and created unnecessary barriers for residents trying to afford their commute, stay healthy, and reduce their environmental impact. Half of all Physical Medicine and Rehab housestaff came together to demand management reverse this change and commit that no future changes to their workspace happen without union consultation. This is what collective action looks like. When management oversteps, we organize. When they create problems, we fight back—together 💪

Another successful semester of the Family Health Challenge here in Washington, D.C.! This unique union program gives CIR doctors and local schools the opportunity to connect and work together for the well-being of local students.

Whether it’s in our hospitals or in our community, we love the chance to inspire kids with healthy habits or even some medical career aspirations 😉

Looking forward to the Spring semester!
