Congratulations to the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice and immigrant communities across NJ for years of tireless advocacy to win these protections.

There is still much further to go in the fight for real immigrant justice in New Jersey, but these were important steps forward that will establish meaningful protections for many in our communities. CIR members were a proud to join the advocacy efforts on these bills, especially on the importance of these protections in healthcare settings.

ICE terror is a healthcare crisis: healthcare funding has been slashed to send billions of dollars to ICE; patients are afraid to visit doctors, leading to riskier health outcomes; frontline healthcare workers trying to administer patient care often face hostility from ICE agents. These issues are not separate but part of a larger problem - a problem that we have the ability to change through collective action and union power.

Everyone deserves dignified lives and quality healthcare, which ICE agents directly impede on when they show up at hospitals and refuse to respect patients' rights to privacy and treatment.

That's why on Friday, March 27, CIR members are taking action across the country to demand ICE OUT! Join us by reaching out to your hospital organizer to find out how you can get involved.

Thank you to Hudson County elected officials for calling on Hudson Regional Hospital to preserve the health insurance plans of the resident physicians recently transferred from Christ Hospital .

As CIR members, Christ hospital residents worked hard to negotiate affordable health plans. It’s imperative that we get to keep them and be able to access care while they’re also providing it.
