Early in recovery, someone said two words that stuck: “Smart feet.” 👟🧠 It means letting your feet lead when your brain can’t. When you’re overwhelmed or tempted to quit, move your feet somewhere safe. Your brain might lie. 👣 Your feet can take you to truth. 💙

✨ That line hits me right in the gut — and the heart. So many times in early recovery, I counted the hours, then the days. And it felt like forever. But each day, I was laying down the track for the life I have now. A life I couldn’t have imagined back then.

Because if you can make it through today — that craving, that emotion, that lie that says you can’t — you’re already doing it.

Recovery isn’t some far-off mountaintop. It’s one solid, hard-won day at a time. And that adds up to forever.

Here’s to today — and all the todays ahead. 🧡

1. “Okay.”
2. “How can I support you in not drinking?”

❄️ 20 years ago, I drove through a snowstorm to Vermont for my first solo intervention. I was terrified. What unfolded? A beautiful, collaborative moment of hope.

The invitational model we use today was born from experiences like that. It’s about 💛 love, not shame. Support 🤝 not punishment. And it works. I’ve done over 1,400 interventions since then — and every single one reminds me: people do show up. And recovery is real.
