Bryan Johnson & the failure of Adipeau
It was interesting to observe Bryan Johnson’s Adipeau experiment.
Adipeau is a topical cream that has been touted as being able to selectively increase / decrease subdermal fat - leading to a decrease in wrinkles & other hallmarks of aging.
That’s what most people know.
What most people don’t know is that Adipeau is actually a derivative product of a product called ABT, made by Lavoisier Health since 2013. Lavoisier Health introduced the product to Adipeau’s founder, Ivan Galanin, & told him about the skin benefits, which he subsequently attempted to patent as his own innovation (!).
Eventually, Ivan decided to “improve” the formulation by adding a “lipolytic” factor & claimed that the new concoction could “selectively” add/subtract skin volume “as needed” (this is what he put in his patent applications).
The problem is, unfortunately, we doubt it works like that - as the European Patent Office has pushed back (to be specific, they say he has not proved this is possible or how it works). The EPO also stated that Adipeau is an obvious derivative of ABT obtained by adding Thai black ginger extract, which *might* be helpful in some way.
In fact, late last year Ivan started touting the original Adipeau cream as a “more adipogenic” cream can be pared with a “more lipolytic” cream that he’s also happy to sell you at a premium price!
By adding a lipolytic factor, we theorize that the original Adipeau cream is, effectively, just a watered-down, much (MUCH!) more expensive version of ABT, the original “adipogenic” cream that fixed Ivan’s hand and did wonders for his nasolabial folds as well as his sister’s periorbital area (again, so wonderful he started the process to patent it for himself).
What’s more, (we theorize) it’s just not as effective - particularly for people who have more “Lipolysis” in their lifestyle- like Bryan Johnson & probably others who are on the Blueprint regime, but others.
Moreover, we actually think - based upon feedback from people who have used both products- that most people would prefer ABT over Adipeau’s “adipogenic” concoction. We note that Ivan never offered any definitive proof that his product is superior to ABT. We invite him to do so if he has it - we’ll even put it on our website & here on Reddit!
To be specific, we think Bryan might have had a better chance for the results he sought with ABT, as opposed to the over-priced & over-hyped ABT derivative that is Adipeau.
The following (long) user review details one person’s experience with both products - see link below.
ABT was designed to be simple & accessible- we consider it a product that is highly useful for improving health, which we feel should not be a luxury product.
