Books are my favourite go to thing for learning, entertainment and processing emotions. Here are a few books from my personal library which have contributed to enhance my knowledge on mental health, emotions, personality and so on.

‘Emotional Intelligence’ by Daniel Goleman was my first book towards starting to understand the mind. I was so fascinated by knowing how the brain works, how it can impact a person’s personality and life. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about mental health.

Are you someone who wants to know more on mental health? Confused where to start?

Check out these books and there are many more in the market. Pick up one book at a time and enjoy knowing the nuances of the mind.

As per WHO, Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn and work well, and contribute to their community. It has intrinsic and instrumental value and is a basic human right.

Mental illness, or a mental health disorder, is a health condition that significantly affects a person's thinking, feeling, mood, or behavior, causing distress and difficulty in daily functioning.

Mental illness is invisible unlike physical illness. Hence understanding mental illness, empathising with a person who is suffering and eventually taking or extending help and support is challenging.

In 1992, World Federation for Mental Health came up with a program to bring global awareness about mental health and hence October 10th, every year was decided as a Mental Health day.

Mental health is real. It is as important as physical health. Mental health services in India include free government run, NGO run centers, government hospitals(each district has mental health professionals attached to a few primary health care centres and district hospitals), private clinics and practitioners. There are also 24/7 helpline numbers to seek help for mental health.

Few helpline numbers | 24/7 | Multi Language support:

TeleManas: 14416 (24/7)
Vandrevala Foundation:9999666555 (through whatsapp)
Mpower Minds: 1800-120-820050

HELP IS AROUND. PLEASE TAKE HELP FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS.
