WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 5th JUNE
The pride and prosperity of any nation lies in the abundance of its natural resources and the richness of its flora and fauna. Today, we are living in a world that is rife with issues like water and air pollution, global warming, ozone depletion, deforestation, and natural calamities like floods-the banes of modern day civilisation!! Urbanisation and infrastructure development has led to widespread felling of trees.
In order to create an awareness and to lay emphasis on protecting the environment, the WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY is celebrated annually on the 5th of June.
We proudly declare that the Staff, Dr. Nanditha S. k, Dr. Manasa Uday, and Dr. Pavithra, Department of Conservative and Endodontics took the initiative and celebrated the same in our college campus on Sunday 5th June. Along with the 2nd year students they planted saplings in the college campus.
Happiness is..the raking of the soil with your hands, the fragrance of the earth wafting through the air, and the planting of the sapling. A perfect way to connect to Mother Earth and an enriching experience indeed!
We humans have this one planet and we must learn to live sustainably with nature.
This message of the World Environment Day was conveyed in a befitting manner by our staff and students.
Cheers and applause 👏 to them.

Ugadi Festival 2022
The literal meaning of the word “Ugadi” is the beginning of new year and it is New Year day according to the Hindu calendar. This festival heralds the onset of the Spring season and is celebrated with great fervour in the southern Indian states.
Ugadi festival was celebrated in our college on April 1st. The college bore a festive, traditional look. The entrance door was decorated with flowers and the traditional “thorana”, a festoon of mango and neem leaves.
Our respected Trustee, Dr. Jyothi R Prasad, graced the occasion with her presence.
The Introductory speech was delivered by Intern, Nishanth Nishu. Final year student, Shrikar chanted the hymns and the deity was worshipped by one and all.
Invocation song by 3rd year student, Sandra and dance performance by Intern Swati and group was delightful.
The “holige” sweet was served with ghee followed by other refreshments.
Ugadi is a festival symbolic of new beginnings. This is one festival which teaches us to not only bask in the glory of all things good, but also embrace with grace the vicissitudes of life. On Ugadi day it is customary to partake of neem leaves mixed with jaggery, which symbolises that man should experience all flavours of life-bitter and sweet, good and bad, and embrace the ups and downs with an equanimity of mind.
So, here’s to new beginnings!!

Holi 2022
India is a land of festivals. To quote Mark Twain, “the year has 365 days, but India has 366 festivals.”
Holi, the festival of colours, which is observed a fortnight after MahAshivarAthri, heralds the onset of the spring season. The origins of this festival can be traced to our ancient Puranas-the legend of King Hiranyakashipu and his son Prahlada.
This festival signifies the triumph of good over evil, also the victory over our vices like fear and ignorance and the prevailing of light over darkness.
Holi was celebrated in our college grounds on 18th March, Friday. The festivities began with the customary application of the Holi colours. The Introductory speech explaining the significance of the festival was delivered by Intern, Sunita Yadav following which mouthwatering sweets and savouries were distributed to all. Final year students Lia and Ashmi entertained us all with their outstanding dance performance. The staff also danced to the foot tapping upbeat music. The enthusiasm of the interns and students knew no bounds.
The day was fun-filled with a kaleidoscope of colours, laughter, joy and mirth. The mood was optimistic and convivial.
And as they say, sometimes all that is needed is “the splash of colors.”
Cheers to the 17D batch of interns who organised the Holi celebrations in college.

CONS ENDO DAY March 5th 2022

NATIONAL CONS ENDO DAY MARCH 5th 2022
All through the year we celebrate many days which are of social, national, international, festive, religious and academic/professional significance.
The field of Dentistry is no stranger to such celebrations.
Our academic calendar is punctuated with days which either commemorate the birth anniversary of pioneers in the field or celebrate the foundation day of societies and associations pertaining to the various branches of Dentistry.
The Federation of Operative Dentistry was formed on March 5th 1982. In 2011, F.O. D. I was changed to the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. Since 2017, March 5th is celebrated as National Cons & Endo Day.
The Department of Conservative & Endodontics headed by Dr. Nanditha S K, SK Reader, had organised several events and programmes as part of the celebrations.
Students turned out in huge numbers and actively participated in the various competitions- Brainstorming, Rangoli, Essay writing, Poster, Quiz and a short video posted on Instagram.
The staff and students were dressed in colourful attires as per the dress code for the day-In vibrant red denoting the colour of the Pulp, in bright yellow indicating the colour of the Dentin and in pearly white suggestive of the colour of the Enamel.
The event was formally celebrated in our college auditorium on March 5th.
The Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Manasa Uday, Uday Senior Lecturer. As per the culture and the norm, the traditional lamp was lit, followed by the invocation song. The Introductory Speech was delivered by Dr. Pavithra, Senior Lecturer.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the various events.
Interns, Ashwathy and Swati, enthralled one and all by their scintillating dance performance. The Quiz program was conducted in an organised manner by Dr. Manasa Uday.
The program was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Manasa Uday.
Dental caries is one of the most prevalent disease affecting the human race second only to common cold. And the nature of the dental pain is so intense that it even surpasses labour pain! Cons & Endo is that branch of Dentistry which not only takes pride in relieving the patients’ pain, but also salvages the natural tooth while restoring its form, function & esthetics. This fraternity needs to be recognised and applauded for their work. March 5th is a day earmarked to reiterate the significance of Conservative and Endodontic treatment procedures.
Many Congratulations to the staff Department of Cons and Endo who organised the events and the programs impeccably. 👏👏Congratulations to all the participants and the winners.

Public health dentistry aims at achieving optimal oral health of the community or the population at large. This is achieved by laying emphasis on preventive practices. Patient education and motivation is the key to successful preventive oral practices. This is a “continuous” process. As dental health professionals, it behooves upon us to reiterate the same.
Dental camps and outreach programs ensure one on one interaction with the public and are instrumental in achieving the set objective.
The Department of PHD headed by Dr. Shekar Chandru, Chandrashekar B S has been conducting camps on a regular basis. On 24/10/2021, Sunday, a dental camp was conducted in association with Lions Club Of Jigani, Harappanahalli. This camp was part of the Mega Health Camp. Team of Staff-Dr. Chandrashekar B S, Dr. Shibu Prakash, Reader Department Of OMRD and interns attended the camp. About 50 patients were examined and appraised of their oral health. The patients were educated and motivated to maintain their oral health.
