The gut is a magical organ that affects almost all functions of the body. These functions can be seen as a reflection of how your gut feels that day!
Low mood, acne, low respiratory immunity can all be caused by an upset/dysbiotic gut.
There are primarily 3 axes that keep your gut connected with the rest of the body. They are:
Gut-Brain Axis:
Have you noticed that when you experience low moods, you either overeat or lose your appetite? Or maybe you eat something upsetting and it affects your mood instantly? This happens because the gut and brain communicate with each other on a bidirectional axis. The brain influences gut activities including maintaining immunity and vice versa.
Gut-Skin Axis:
Research has shown a direct link between a dysbiotic gut and unhealthy skin. An imbalanced gut can lead to atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acne vulgaris, dandruff, and even skin cancer.
Gut-Lung Axis
There has also been a link between the gut and lungs where the immune cells located in the gut wall can leave the gut and travel through the lymphatic system to the lungs. This is why a balanced gut microbiome is important for ensuring proper immune responses in the lungs to keep respiratory tract infections at bay.
The Role of Probiotics:
The good bacteria, or probiotics in the gut ensure that the organ functions normally and healthily. To provide reinforcements to your gut bacteria, you can use probiotic supplements. They help restore the gut microbiome and prevent inflammation and treat illnesses from the root!
