To Know More About Frozen Shoulder
According to research says that Physical therapy and home exercises can be a first-line treatment for frozen shoulder, with consideration of the patient's symptoms and stage of the condition.
In the freezing (painful) stage, gentle stretching exercises can be done but should be kept within a short duration (1–5 seconds) and not go beyond the patient’s pain threshold.
In the frozen (adhesive) stage, strengthening exercises such as scapular retraction, posterior capsule stretch and isometric shoulder external rotation can be added to the patient’s exercises for maintenance of muscle strength.
In the thawing stage, the patient experiences a gradual return of range of motion; both stretching and strengthening exercises can increase in intensity, with a longer holding duration.

EXERCISE FOR HEALTHY BREATHING

Living and Lungs are the chief mantra in today's world. Breathing exercises not only improve oxygen supply in the body but also boosts our immunity to fight against many deadly micro-organisms like -19.

Practising it on everyday basis will help our body fight better on getting infected with the virus and there will be lesser symptoms.

Practising them during the recovery period and after makes the recovery faster.

There are many physiotherapy exercise techniques that are beneficial to be practised regularly like Deep breathing exercises, Active Cycle of Breathing Techniques, Diaphragmatic and Pursed lip breathing, Thoracic Expansion Exercises, Positioning Techniques, Stretching and Strengthening of Respiratory Muscles

These improve ventilation in lungs, lung capacity and function, increased oxygen supply, clear secretions from lungs, improves blood pressure and heart rate, helps to relax and relieve anxiety.

For a personalised exercise prescription, contact HAAS Rehabilitation on the below contact.

WHO defines Healthy Ageing “as the process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age”. Functional ability is about having the capabilities that enable all people to be and do what they have reason to value. This includes a person’s ability to:

meet their basic needs;
to learn, grow and make decisions;
to be mobile;
to build and maintain relationships; and
to contribute to society.
Functional ability is made up of the intrinsic capacity of the individual, relevant environmental characteristics and the interaction between them.

Intrinsic capacity comprises all the mental and physical capacities that a person can draw on and includes their ability to walk, think, see, hear and remember. The level of intrinsic capacity is influenced by a number of factors such as the presence of diseases, injuries and age-related changes.

Environments include the home, community and broader society, and all the factors within them such as the built environment, people and their relationships, attitudes and values, health and social policies, the systems that support them and the services that they implement. Being able to live in environments that support and maintain your intrinsic capacity and functional ability is key to Healthy Ageing.

1.Every person – in every country in the world – should have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life. Yet, the environments in which we live can favour health or be harmful to it. Environments are highly influential on our behaviour, our exposure to health risks (for example air pollution, violence), our access to quality health and social care and the opportunities that ageing brings.
2.Healthy Ageing is about creating the environments and opportunities that enable people to be and do what they value throughout their lives. Everybody can experience Healthy Ageing. Being free of disease or infirmity is not a requirement for Healthy Ageing as many older adults have one or more health conditions that, when well controlled, have little influence on their wellbeing.

4.Range-of-motion exercises. Abnormal motion of the knee joint can lead to a worsening of OA symptoms when there is additional stress on the joint. Your physical therapist will assess your knee’s range of motion compared with expected normal motion.
5.Strengthening the muscles around your knee will be an essential part of your rehabilitation program. Individuals with knee OA who adhere to strengthening programs have been shown to have less pain and an improved overall quality of life. There are several factors that
6.Physical therapists are trained in manual (hands-on) therapy. Your physical therapist will gently move your muscles and joints to improve their motion, flexibility, and strength. These techniques can target areas that are difficult to treat on your own.
7.The best knee exercises may be the ones you can do at home or even during a break at the office. They’re easy, effective, and convenient, and don’t require any special equipment. Do them slowly and gradually increase the number of repetitions as your muscles get stronger.
