Birth anniversary of Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal (20th May 1894), also known as the Sage of Kanchi or Mahaperiyavar.
He was named Swaminathan Shasthri by his parents.

He ascended the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham in the year 1907 (at age of 13)
Mahaperiyavar's discourses have been recorded in a Tamil book titled "Deivathin Kural" (Voice of God).
