The moment of birth

Most of the astrologers are not even aware, of the underlying lacuna in recording of the birth time itself. The reason for this is the lack of standard procedure for recording the moment of birth amoung the doctor and hospital. Its consequently effect in the inaccuracy in astrological predictions.

Few years ago survey conducted and response from various hospitals and nursing homes in the southern part of India.

The question was at what stage of the delivery proceedings do you record the precise moment of birth of a newborn as per the system that you follow??

Their answers was in the following..

1. Child's first effort to breadth - 40%
2. Cutting of the umbilical cord -30%
3. Apperance of the head - 10%
4. Coming out of the body -10%
5. Varying instructions -10%

The medical research , firmly establishes the fact that the new born gets life only at the point of its first effort to breathe, which is immediately followed by the first cry. We have to remember that the time lapse between the head appearance and the first breath of the newborn could be as much as 10 to 12 minutes even in the case of normal delivery.

On the other hand the duration of an Ascendant being 1hr 54 min and the stretch of a sign being 30 degree, it is quite possible for the Ascendant to have remained in the previous house, if the birth was recorded any time before the first effort to breathe or first cry particularly if the ascendant is in cusp of a sign.

Yet another important point to be noted here is the charts cast with the aid of an almanac by the priests of the temple in particular will be invariably erratic, since the coordinates mentioned in them are not to the minute degree . The error is mostly noticeable in D-9 or the Navamsa . It is always advisable to take advantage of any standard website for accuracy.

Fate or Freewill?

Fate or Freewill is a debate, perhaps started with the very inception of Astrology. One important and irrefutable fact that it is not the often spoken 'fate' or the 'preordination' which determines our path of life but the changeable ' freewill' which enable us to alter the course of our life for the better.

While 'fate' is the lazy man's phobia ' freewill' is an intelligent man's path to success. While 'fate' is a flash-back of the past ' freewill' is the planning for the future.

Once the concept of 'freewill' is agreed upon, logically, our focus should be on the changing planets and not the unchanging and unreachable stars.

The architects of Hindu Shastra were the first to recognise the significance of the planets which finds mention in our ancient Vedas under the nomenclature 'Jyotish'.

Unfortunately it was the later scholars who meaninglessly misused the concept of constellation or the group of stars, completely departing from its original objective.

Rahu aspect on Mercury:

Rahu's aspect on Mercury can be a tricky one. On one hand the native becomes a revolutionary, business savvy, and a very clever communicator.
