Life was too much about pottery. I was all time worried about some form or some glazes, thinking about new glazes, new slips and it all started to get so overwhelming that I was not able to do any of them . Decided to deal with it and took a workshop that was not about pottery. Ended up making a pottery display shelf for the studio and realising I was still thinking about pottery 🤣

Made this small shelf in the wood workshop I took up this Sunday at . Something that I loved about the workshop was how they got us into learning basics first, showing us what a good cut and bad cut is, how to be careful and use and not use the machines too. By the end of the day I was confident about handling these machines by myself. I hope and lool forward to someday I can combine both pottery and wood work to create something .

My studio in Dharwad was definitely mine but was made by people who started being there with me . All the students, people who bought from me, came for trials .. it was such an amazing time sharing that space and talks with them .
Well, tried to clean my Bangalore space up and set it properly for a picture and here they are . I miss my mom sometimes secretly cleaning up the studio here, made me also realise who was probably managing it there 😅. Still filling up this space with ideas, getting comfortable with the geckos and getting back to normal routine of throwing, firing and shooting some videos . I definitely underestimated shifting . Took me a while to settle properly but this is it.

Studio Sira Pottery, Indiranagar, Bangalore .. A production pottery studio with a walk in pottery store that crosses me making what u see in store and also a pottery school .

30 of these are off today for a birthday return gift . What a challenge it was producing these in just 5 days. The suspense on kiln opening day when the kiln can take just 30 of these was killing me. Thankfully not a single casualty and here they are! All packed n ready to go already .

Over the years I have tried a lot of variety of glazes..some with stains, some with oxides or underglazing my pots, using stains on pots, etc and something that stayed with me and kind of became my style was playing around with oxides in glazes and slips.

In slips, I love the antique feeling they give me and in glaze I love the character they show when they get in contact with heat. They go blue, green , yellows, brown and what not color in different places. I love how each form surprises me everytime.

When I started with customised orders, I initially went through alot of uncertainity and anxiety regarding this but its been 5 years now and I love how every kiln surprises me. I have realised an aging glaze can give different effects too.

This picture is a cropped surface of a vase showing how dramatically the glaze has spread here .

Dad was bored and I asked him if he wanted to join me for my product shoot. He came along and was watching me keep stuff here and there n click pictures. He kept this mug on this bar and told me this looks so good.. click a picture of this . I wasnt very convinced but I clicked anyway because I was loving the enthusiasm with which he was helping me with the shoot.

Today this picture brings back that day and this picture feels very special.

A 10 year battle with cancer . He came out strong everytime and this last time it took him. I hope he is resting in peace now without the pain and suffering enjoying his glass of whisky and singing all his favourite songs loudly.

Because we all need a mug we adore ❤️

Amazing pictures of my work from my clients make my day ❤️
This mug was made as an experiment with the glazes . I actually kind of dont remember how I colored it too.

I have a bunch of things that I make as experiments and they all have been taken by people who have made it a part of their me time. A special mug for some special time is a must . Isnt it ?

got this one and she has been uploading beautiful pictures of this since a year n half now I guess and I am in love with how much she adores the mug.

Though throwing is my favourite part in pottery something else I love the most is making my own glazes. I formulate recipes and test them on tiny test tiles. This glaze development procedure usually goes on for months and puts me on the edge of the seat everytime I add test tiles in the kiln ( which is mostly all time) .

Its so much exciting to know what different elements from earth can do, can mix up and make beautiful colors . Unlike paints where you mix blue, red and white to make a purple glazing works in complete opposite way. It takes a while until you start understanding what color you might get in the result.

Like I said, I test the different elements from earth and that makes my work very rustic and something near to earth. Most of my colors are like the day sky, sometimes starry nights or different tones of greens and browns and here I tried to imitate the lotus pod and in love with this beautiful black, brownish shade.
Tell me how you like it in comments .
