Children learn best when ideas are made fun, simple, and relatable and that’s exactly why we use analogies in stuttering therapy! 🗣️
Instead of only talking about “smooth” or “bumpy” speech, we connect their experiences to things they already know and love. For example:
Speech can be like a river sometimes flowing freely, sometimes getting stuck on pebbles.
Stuttering can feel like a traffic light pausing at red, slowing at yellow, and moving smoothly on green.
Talking can be like music when we find the right rhythm, the melody flows beautifully.
These playful comparisons help children understand what stuttering feels like, learn strategies to manage it, and feel more confident while speaking. Most importantly, analogies turn therapy into a space that feels safe, encouraging, and enjoyable.
