Signs Your Nervous System is Overwhelmed 🧠

Feeling frazzled lately? Your body might be sending you signals that your nervous system is overloaded. Here are some signs to look out for:

1. Heightened Sensitivity: Becoming overly sensitive to stimuli such as loud noises, bright lights, or crowded spaces could indicate that your nervous system is overwhelmed and on edge.

2. Digestive Issues: Your gut and brain are closely connected, so digestive issues like stomachaches, bloating, or changes in bowel habits could be linked to stress affecting your nervous system.

3. Constant Fatigue: If you're feeling tired all the time, it could be a sign that your nervous system is on overdrive, leaving you drained.

4. Increased Irritability: Finding yourself snapping at loved ones or feeling irritable over minor things could be a result of heightened stress on your nervous system.

5. Freeze Response: It's a survival mechanism of the nervous system triggered in situations of extreme stress. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unable to respond effectively to their environment.

6. Crying Spells: Frequent mood swings, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or struggling to regulate your feelings could be a sign of nervous system overload. Crying is a way in which our nervous system releases that load.

Remember, it's essential to listen to your body and prioritize self-care when you notice these signs. Take time to relax, practice mindfulness, and seek support if needed. Your well-being matters! 💚

Myth: Therapists have all the answers. It's a common misconception that therapists are supposed to have a magic solution to every problem presented by their clients. In reality, therapists are trained to guide and support clients through their journey of self-discovery and healing.

Fact: Therapy is a collaborative journey where solutions are discovered together. Therapists provide a space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through open dialogue, exploration, and various therapeutic techniques, clients and therapists work together to identify patterns, gain insights, and develop coping strategies. It's not about having all the answers but about empowering clients to find their own solutions and create positive changes in their lives. 💬

The phrase "It's just a phase, you will get over it" often serves as a dismissive response to someone's struggles, implying that their feelings or experiences are temporary and unworthy of attention. This perpetuates the myth that all challenges are fleeting and can be easily overcome with time.
However, the reality is far more nuanced. Certain experiences might be fleeting, but others might point to more serious emotional or psychological problems that need to be addressed and supported.
Dismissing someone's feelings as merely a phase can lead to feelings of invalidation and exacerbate their distress. It's essential to recognize the complexity of human emotions and experiences, understanding that each individual's journey is unique.
By demonstrating empathy, affirmation, and support, rather than minimising their difficulties, we may create a more sympathetic and understanding atmosphere. It's critical to promote open communication, offer tools for obtaining professional help when necessary, and recognise that each person's experiences are unique and worthy of consideration.

Ever found yourself in that awkward spot where your friend suggests a pricey outing, but it's way out of your budget zone? Don't sweat it! Here's how to gracefully navigate those financial differences in friendships:

1. Open Up: Chat it out! Be real about your budget constraints. It sets the stage for understanding and avoids any awkwardness down the road.

2. Get Creative: Who says fun has to break the bank? Think potluck dinners, picnics in the park, or DIY movie nights. Budget-friendly and just as fun!

3. Share the Load: Mix it up! Rotate who covers the expenses to fit everyone's budget. Your friend treats you to dinner? Return the favor with a cozy night in.

4. Focus on Fun: Remember, it's not about the money, it's about the memories. Find activities that bring you together, regardless of cost. Whether it's hiking, volunteering, or binge-watching your favorite series, it's all about the shared experience.

So next time financial differences crop up, remember these tips to keep the friendship strong!

Imposter syndrome is that voice in your head whispering, "You're not good enough" or "You don't belong here," despite evidence suggesting otherwise. Second guessing yourself at the workplace perpetuates disparities and stifling job advancement. By acknowledging its presence and adopting effective strategies, we can reclaim our confidence and excel in our jobs.
However, slapping the label of imposter syndrome on an individual can often put the sole responsibility on them for fixing it. Systemic oppression, stereotypes and biases at the workplace keep women, marginalised communities, cultures and religion, stuck in the loop of feeling incompetent. Under-representation of people, their diversities and uniqueness in terms of communication, leadership style and performance, can often lead to a one size fits all approach at the workplace. Workplaces can offer more diversity and broader definitions of the same to bring in strengths of people from varying backgrounds, genders, cultures and contexts.

In a world that often equates success with extroversion, it's essential to recognize and celebrate the quiet strength of introverted women. From their reflective nature to their profound creativity, introverts bring a unique perspective and invaluable contributions to every aspect of life.

The Power of Reflection: Rather than constantly seeking external validation, they take the time to reflect on their thoughts and actions, allowing them to understand themselves better and continuously evolve.

Meaningful Connections: While we may mistake introversion for shyness, introverted women excel in forming deep and authentic relationships.

Creativity Unleashed: Introverted women often find inspiration in solitude. Their willingness to embrace unconventional approaches sets introverted women apart.

Resilience in Silence: Amidst chaos, introverted women find solace in silence. Instead of succumbing to the noise, they cultivate inner peace, allowing them to tackle challenges with clarity and composure.

Thoughtful Decision-Making: Analysing options thoroughly, they consider long-term consequences and weigh pros and cons effectively, leading to informed choices.

Stable Relationship with Self: Embracing self-acceptance and self-love, they prioritise personal growth and well-being.

In every relationship, there are moments that test the strength and depth of our connection. These are the times when communication becomes not just important, but essential. How we navigate these difficult conversations can make all the difference. It starts with a moment of introspection, taking the time to truly reflect on what we feel and why. It's about understanding our emotions before we voice them.

Here's a 4-step method to help you communicate effectively during these challenging times:

🌻Gentle Start-Up: Start conversations with 'I' statements to express feelings and open understanding without blame.
🌻Appreciate Your Partner: Acknowledge and appreciate your partner's qualities, especially during disagreements, to maintain positivity.
🌻Take Responsibility: Own your actions in conflicts to foster mutual understanding and resolution.
🌻Self-Soothe: Manage overwhelming emotions by taking a step back, ensuring conversations remain constructive.

If these steps are challenging, therapy can offer guidance. At HealThru Therapy, we help couples break negative communication patterns and explore underlying emotions that influence interactions. Therapy is a proactive step towards enriching your relationship.

Seeking therapy is a sign of commitment to growth, both individually and together. It's about building a relationship foundation robust enough to thrive through life's ups and downs.

Reflecting on the past year isn't just about tallying up achievements or setbacks. It's a deeper, more introspective journey that can profoundly impact our mental and emotional well-being. As we stand on the cusp of 2023, journaling our experiences from the past year can be a transformative exercise, one that we at HealThru Therapy strongly advocate for its therapeutic value.

Think about what really worked for you this year. What were your successes and joys? Reflect on the challenges you've overcome and the new things you've discovered about yourself. Acknowledge what you're most grateful for and how you've grown. This isn't just an exercise in reminiscence; it's a step towards acknowledging your journey and preparing for the future with a clearer, more focused mindset.

Journaling can be a form of therapy in itself, helping you to process emotions and experiences. If you find yourself uncovering deeper issues or seeking more guidance, remember that professional therapy, like what we offer at HealThru Therapy, can provide additional support and insight.

As you write, let your reflections guide your intentions for the new year. What do you want to carry forward? What lessons will shape your choices? Let's make 2023 a year of continued growth, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.
