In stillness, I let go of all that binds me.
No fear, no desire, no attachment —
Shiva and Shakti dwell within,
the still point of all creation.
Neither father nor mother,
Neither friend nor giver,
Neither son nor daughter,
Neither servant nor spouse.
Neither knowledge nor livelihood is truly mine
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
In this Ocean of Worldly Existence which is Endless
I am full of Sorrow and Very much Afraid,
I have Fallen with Excessive Desires and Greed,
Drunken and Intoxicated,
Always Tied in the Bo***ge of this miserable Samsara
You are my Refuge, You Alone are my Refuge,
Oh Mother Bhavani.
I do not know charity or acts of giving,
Nor the disciplines of meditation or yoga.
I do not know tantras, hymns, or sacred mantras,
Nor ritual worship or formal offerings.
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
I do not know virtue or sin,
I do not know joy or sorrow or grief.
I do not know the true nature of bo***ge or liberation
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
In heat and cold,
in hunger and thirst,
in joy and grief,
in youth and old age,
in prosperity and adversity —
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
I do not know the creator,
nor the Lord of wealth and prosperity,
nor the Lord of all beings,
nor the ruler of the gods.
I do not even know the gods of day and night —
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
In times of dispute and sorrow,
in carelessness and long journeys,
in water and fire,
on mountain peaks or among enemies,
even in the deep forest —
O Mother Bhavani, You alone are my refuge.
I do not know anything else,
I do not seek anything else,
I do not desire anything else —
You alone are my refuge, O Mother Bhavani.
