A child’s brain is not built by screens.
It is built through connection.

Eye contact.
Comfort after tears.
Repeated conversations.
Feeling safe enough to explore.

Neuroscience and developmental theory consistently remind us that responsive caregiving is the strongest predictor of healthy emotional development.

Technology, daycare, and peers all have a place — but none replace the emotional architecture created by a caring mother.

Throwback to last April ✨

Slide 1At Narayana Nethralaya for an insightful ophthalmology panel discussion 👁️A truly multidisciplinary exchange with paediatric neurology, vision therapy, paediatric physiotherapy, paediatric ophthalmology, and developmental paediatrics coming together.

We explored interesting case scenarios where each specialty shared their perspective — all with one goal: helping the child achieve better outcomes 💛

A key takeaway was the importance of preventive eye checks — especially for children with red flags, but also as a routine practice. Early screening matters, starting from under 1 year and continuing annually.

Slide 2Developmental workshop at MVJ — Mexican College workshop focused on early child development and identifying red flags 🧠

Udaipur City Palace ✨

Beyond the beauty, something really stood out to me—through the lens of a developmental paediatrician.

The palace was thoughtfully adapted for Maharana Bhupal Singh, who had limited mobility due to illness. Wheelchair access, a bathroom within the room, one of India’s earliest lifts… even windows placed to enjoy sunrise & sunset 🌅

In medicine, we often talk about disability—but what truly matters is reducing barriers.

Accessibility is not about dependence. It’s about participation, dignity, and quality of life. The right environment can truly enable people.

What makes this even more inspiring—despite his physical limitations, he played a key role in national integration, being among the first to sign the Instrument of Accession, and contributed to social, educational, and environmental reforms.

A reminder that inclusive design isn’t a luxury—it’s essential care beyond hospitals.

We often see accessibility as optional—but what if we saw it as essential?

🌿 Raising Children Begins With Raising Ourselves

We often talk about parenting styles and positive parenting…
But here’s the real question—are we ready for it?

✨ Because children don’t just listen… they observe, absorb, and become.

Here’s how parents can brace themselves:

1️⃣ Live the routine you expect
Sleep well. Eat right. Stay active. Limit screen time.
👉 Preach what you practice.

2️⃣ Balance work and life
Yes, responsibilities are real. So are financial pressures.
But your presence matters just as much as your provision.

3️⃣ Choose healthy coping mechanisms
Exercise. Meditate. Journal.
Not excessive scrolling or substance dependence.

4️⃣ You are the model they learn from
Your reactions become their reactions.
Understand your emotions. Express—not suppress or punish.

5️⃣ Watch your stress signals
Irritability, poor sleep, appetite changes, anger—
These are signs, not weaknesses.
👉 Seek support early.

6️⃣ When in doubt, ask
About your child’s development or behavior—
Reach out to your paediatrician or trusted sources.

7️⃣ Remember… you are their hero ❤️
They look up to you more than you realise.
Your everyday actions shape their lifelong beliefs.

🌱 Positive parenting doesn’t start with the child.
It starts with you.

Parenting today can feel overwhelming.
So many styles. So many opinions. So much noise.

But here’s the truth —
You know your child best. And you are the best parent for them. ❤️

The art of parenting doesn’t need perfection… it needs presence.

✨ What truly matters:
1. Spend time — bond, connect, follow your child’s lead
2. Play, read, love — unconditionally
3. Guide behaviour — validate emotions, help them regulate
4. Build routines — nutrition, sleep, physical activity
5. Be present — not just physically, but emotionally

In reality, we all carry work home.
We all feel tired.
We all struggle between reacting and responding.

And that’s okay.

But children need connection over distraction.
Not convenience, not screens — you.

Parenting is not a fixed style —
It’s a recipe you create over time,
using love, patience, mistakes, and learning.

🌿 There is no one “right” way.
🌿 It is personal.
🌿 It is evolving.
