What is Vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a skin condition where pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) are destroyed, leading to white patches on the skin. It can appear on any part of the body — including the face, hands, scalp, and even inside the mouth.
🧬 It's not contagious.
💡 It's not caused by poor hygiene.
⚖️ It’s often autoimmune — the body mistakenly attacks its own pigment cells.
Can it be treated?
Yes. While there's no one-size-fits-all cure, treatment options can restore pigment or reduce contrast. Options include:
✨ Topical medications
✨ Phototherapy (light treatment)
✨ Surgical options (skin grafting, melanocyte transplant)
✨ Camouflage therapy
