Application of medicated liquids and powders via the nostrils is called nasyam. When applied as a purification procedure, it expels vitiated doshas from the head, nose, throat and sinuses.
The procedure is may or may not be preceded by local oleation and sudation and sometimes a mild face massage. Commonly, a liquid drug in the form of either expressed juice or medicated oil is taken in exact dose and is instilled into the nostrils, while inhaling.
After this process, the area around the nose, chest, palms and sole are massaged vigorously. Nasyam is very effective in hormonal and neurological conditions as it has the capacity to stimulate neurons and hormonal glands.

Netra-tarpanam is a special Ayurveda ophthalmological procedure in which medicated liquid (usually a medicated ghee) is retained in a small reservoir made around the eyes with black gram paste.

Patra-potala svedam is another highlight of Kerala special treatments.
