Some Corrections in the article..
1. In the paragraph of 4 pada's...it should be 'the third pada' not 'the third sutra'...
2. It is "अथ योगानुशासनम्" not "अथ योगानशु ासनम ्"
3. In the last paragraph....
It should be
"The meaning of 'योग' is not joining or combining or meeting"
not
"The meaning....is not just joining..."
(We use occasionally the meaning of yoga as union of atma-parmatma, or to our higher self etc., but here in this sutra it is not so. Even there are many other scriptures of yoga like 'Yaghywalka Sanhita' in that meaning of yoga is meeting, joining etc., but not here).

"Ganesh Chaturthi"

Story can be this...

Amitji was in Tiruvanamalai (Tamil Nadu) two years back celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with friends. On the same day this story came to him.

It starts with Parvati (Sadhak/Jeeva) seeking Shiva (God). As Sadhak’s wish to achieve the togetherness with god or become one with god becomes more and more desperate/serious, sadhak starts becoming more and more indifferent to the world and starts spending more and more time in prayers (through Meditation, Japa, Pooja, Tapas) to achieve oneness with God.

Being available, all the comforts, materials etc. still sadhak (Parvati Devi) renounce all and just seek god (shiva). The level of seeking of sadhak can be compared to a person who is sinking in water and what will be the level of urge to get a breath he will have? He will not have any thought about anything of the world, only and only he wants to breath. Similarly Sadhak(Parvati Devi) when seeks only and only God and there is nothing else in her mind, than god (Shiva) bestows his grace. And bless with his company.

After being with god (Parvati Devi with Lord Shiva) or in God realisation, sadhak develops vibhuti (Powers- Ashta Siddhi’s, Nav Niddhi’s). In Patenjali yoga sutra’s out of four pada’s (chapters- Samadhi, Sadhana, Vibhuti & Kaivalya Pada) third one is vibhuti pada in which Patenjali Maharishi explains about the types of powers etc. Similarly Parvati Devi(sadhak) creates a son out of vibhuti (symbolic skin dirt). The son represents powers with ahankara (ego). He becomes a barrier between Parvati Devi and Lord Shiva. He stops lord shiva to meet Parvati Devi.

As God already committed for the relationship with Sadhak. Than god performs his Lila (tricks) through which he removes the ahankara developed through powers. Lord Shiva cuts the head of the son of Parvati. Than Parvati Devi requests lord shiva to revive her son. Now powers has to survive but without ahankara so lord shiva installs the head of elephant (symbolically). Elephant being so powerful doesn't show offs his strengths, doesn't dominates like lion or tiger. He be down and live a simple life, only when it is absolutely requires than elephant exercise his powers.

According to the story Lord Ganesha is the representation of powers without ahankara.

So, If we really wants to know god, ourself and establish in bliss etc. Let's learn from Parvati Maa and give 100% for sadhana.

Om Shree Ganeshya Namaha! Hari Om Tat Sat!

Time For Self Vs. World

How much time you spent with yourself and how much time with the world?

Normal we always look outward. It is said in scriptures, the five senses are been made to run outward by their own nature. So it takes us outward. And our mind is always occupied with thoughts about the world. More we are engaged outwardly, more we get into trouble. We get fooled to get things done for our inner satisfaction- peace-contentment etc. And whatever we do it is not enough and unending, still we are not happy-peaceful- contended.

Saint Kabira says:

But the only thing require is to just be with yourself (कीली your center) in instead of being with the world. Yes you be with world also, but only when you are contended inside. Than you will not look forward to get happiness from the world and get into misery.
And taking nature belongs to demon's.

But when you are contended inside and now what to do. You got what you were working for happiness - peace-contentment . Nothing needs to be done. Now only the overflowing joy will be expressed, will be shared into the world. Now this is giving. And giving nature belongs to gods.

How to get contended ? Just be with yourself without effort.

The prime lakshana’s (attributes) of atman (self) are called Sat-Chit-Anand. Sat-the ultimate truth, Chit- the ultimate knowing or the knowing itself, Anand- the bliss.

Sri Adi Shankaracharya says in Bhaj Govindam :

सत्सङ्गत्वे निस्सङ्गत्वं निस्सङ्गत्वे निर्मोहत्वम् ।
निर्मोहत्वे निश्चलतत्त्वं निश्चलतत्त्वे जीवन्मुक्तिः

So we are looking for bliss-truth-knowledge. You are that itself. You are looking/searching/finding yourself only. Just be with yourself. You will find all there is.

Just watch in a day how much time we spent with our-self and how much with the world. And work for to change the ratio. Spent more time with yourself through meditation.

Amitji

"Four Modes Of Being"

1) 'Doing Nothing' means not holding any identity just being. Just being with yourself...Doing nothing...With awareness..With full potential to get into action both physically and mentally ...but doing nothing...

2) 'Being Responsive' Whenever response is been expected from outside world, response as per your Dharma with truthfulness without any fear or protecting/maintaining goodness.

3) 'Giving' what you can offer out of your potential in this world. Spent some time for that without any expectation. This will help for free flow of life.

4) 'Inner Voice' working on your Sankalp's made out of inner voice, for spiritual growth with commitment and continuity.
