"Ganesh Chaturthi"
Story can be this...
Amitji was in Tiruvanamalai (Tamil Nadu) two years back celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with friends. On the same day this story came to him.
It starts with Parvati (Sadhak/Jeeva) seeking Shiva (God). As Sadhak’s wish to achieve the togetherness with god or become one with god becomes more and more desperate/serious, sadhak starts becoming more and more indifferent to the world and starts spending more and more time in prayers (through Meditation, Japa, Pooja, Tapas) to achieve oneness with God.
Being available, all the comforts, materials etc. still sadhak (Parvati Devi) renounce all and just seek god (shiva). The level of seeking of sadhak can be compared to a person who is sinking in water and what will be the level of urge to get a breath he will have? He will not have any thought about anything of the world, only and only he wants to breath. Similarly Sadhak(Parvati Devi) when seeks only and only God and there is nothing else in her mind, than god (Shiva) bestows his grace. And bless with his company.
After being with god (Parvati Devi with Lord Shiva) or in God realisation, sadhak develops vibhuti (Powers- Ashta Siddhi’s, Nav Niddhi’s). In Patenjali yoga sutra’s out of four pada’s (chapters- Samadhi, Sadhana, Vibhuti & Kaivalya Pada) third one is vibhuti pada in which Patenjali Maharishi explains about the types of powers etc. Similarly Parvati Devi(sadhak) creates a son out of vibhuti (symbolic skin dirt). The son represents powers with ahankara (ego). He becomes a barrier between Parvati Devi and Lord Shiva. He stops lord shiva to meet Parvati Devi.
As God already committed for the relationship with Sadhak. Than god performs his Lila (tricks) through which he removes the ahankara developed through powers. Lord Shiva cuts the head of the son of Parvati. Than Parvati Devi requests lord shiva to revive her son. Now powers has to survive but without ahankara so lord shiva installs the head of elephant (symbolically). Elephant being so powerful doesn't show offs his strengths, doesn't dominates like lion or tiger. He be down and live a simple life, only when it is absolutely requires than elephant exercise his powers.
According to the story Lord Ganesha is the representation of powers without ahankara.
So, If we really wants to know god, ourself and establish in bliss etc. Let's learn from Parvati Maa and give 100% for sadhana.
Om Shree Ganeshya Namaha! Hari Om Tat Sat!
In the service of great masters,
Amitji
