Since 2018, Radhatri Nethralaya, led by Dr. Vasumathi Vedantham, has been running the Vision on Wheels program, providing free screening for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) to rural and semi-rural communities in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Equipped with Forus Health’s 3nethra neo and powered by FH TeleCare, their mobile units reach NICUs, hospitals, and villages up to 300 km from Chennai. Every screening is captured, documented, and followed up remotely — ensuring fragile newborns get timely care without long, difficult travel.

With multiple devices in daily operation now, Vision on Wheels has created a lasting impact — bringing early ROP detection and blindness prevention within reach of even the most remote communities.

We had the privilege of participating in the GCNT Expo 2025, hosted by the Global Compact Network Thailand at True Digital Park, Bangkok, from 29–31 July.

With over 20,000 participants from across the public and private sectors, the expo was a national platform for accelerating Sustainable Development Goals under the theme “Forward SDGs Faster Together.”

As an AWS partner, we joined their pavilion to showcase how our AI-powered solutions are creating real-world impact in eye care — from early detection in underserved communities to scalable screening that supports public health systems.

We’re proud to see our 3nethra neo featured in the Stanford Social Innovation Review as part of the K.I.D.R.O.P. program led by Dr. Anand Vinekar and Narayana Nethralaya

Built to serve the last mile, our indigenous, portable imaging device has enabled a sustainable telemedicine model for ROP screening—bringing critical eye care to preterm infants in some of the most underserved regions. The program now runs across 9 Indian states and has expanded to 13 countries. With over 100 non-physicians and 50+ ophthalmologists trained, it shows how task-sharing can extend reach without compromising quality.

Powered by a cloud-based platform, the 3nethra neo has helped reduce screening costs, improve access, and contribute to national policy—with ROP screening included in India’s essential newborn care since 2015.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. P. Namperumalswamy, a pioneering force in ophthalmology whose contributions transformed the landscape of eye care in India and beyond.

As the former Chairman of Aravind Eye Hospital, his visionary leadership and commitment to accessible care helped restore sight to millions. He was more than a clinician, a teacher, and a mentor — he was a global advocate for eliminating preventable blindness.

At Forus Health, we had the privilege of being guided and inspired by Dr. Nam, as he was affectionately known. His wisdom, humility, and pursuit of excellence left a lasting impact on all of us. He was not only a well-wisher but a guiding presence whose encouragement meant a lot for us.

We will always cherish his recent visit to our office, where he graciously inaugurated a laboratory named in his honour. His words that day continue to strengthen our commitment to the mission of sight for all.

Dr. Namperumalswamy’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the institutions he helped shape. He exemplified service, innovation, and quiet leadership — reminding us that true greatness lies in transforming lives, one person at a time.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, the Aravind community, and the global eye care fraternity. We remain grateful to have walked a part of this journey under his inspiration.

Rest in peace, Dr. Nam. Your light will never fade.

We participated in iROP 2025 to showcase how scalable technology and AI are driving faster, simpler, and more effective ROP screening.

From the 3nethra neo to AI-led workflows, our innovations are enabling early detection of treatable ROP—improving care delivery across programs and making a real impact.

We saw strong engagement from clinicians and program leaders who resonated with our vision to bring high-quality neonatal eye care to every corner of the country.

A key highlight was the session by Venkatakrishnan S, our CTO and Head of R&D, who spoke about how AI and thoughtful device design are helping bridge critical care gaps in neonatal ophthalmology.
