Through the eyes reeking of belief and the hearts filled with the zest of life, Swanthana breathes the spirit of 50 girl children aged between 2 months and 20 years, who are mentally challenged and differently abled. These different buds were found from the local police, the Railways, Bus stands, roadside, dustbins, across the compo
und halls of the hotels, around the market areas, also abandoned by the parents. The Daughters of St. Camillus felt the need of coming together and help bring life out of these kids. Thus, Swanthana was formed in September 2006. There’s more to the mission than the housing of small children: It’s about the dedication in offering quality care and protection which are comprehensive and holistic in approach towards fulfilling the sensitive needs of the kids diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Quadriplegia, Hydrocephaly and Micro-cephaliy, down syndrome, blind, deaf and dumb to name a few. The facilities provided to the children include: 24 hours nursing care, medical assistance, Physiotherapy, Education and round the clock entertainment activities ranging from games to music to the celebration of festivals like Christmas, Independence Day, Diwali and birthdays. There can never be a dearth of humanity if only we keep seeking ourselves to discover and get the world in a more compassionate space.
