It was on November 14th, Children's Day; on this special day, we, a team from HLC Ayurveda and Nature Cure, visited a beautiful place : an old age home. We saw a group of "children" who were passing through the second phase of their childhood, which is called the "dusk of life" or "old age." We conducted an Ayurveda and Nature Cure medical camp there.
On each parent's face, we could see the marks of immense life experience, orphanhood, and tolerance. As a healthcare team, when we were talking to each mother and father, the smile of hope reflected on each one's face. One humanitarian, who is also a BSc nurse, was running this old age home. His passion for serving them was evident in his words and deeds. We saw very patient bystanders and caregivers who were taking good care of them, and the cleanliness was highly commendable. Kudos to their efforts!
Parents who have become paralyzed after a stroke, a mentally impaired father, a wife taking care of her husband affected by dementia (he doesn't remember who she is), a mother who became blind due to diabetic retinopathy—these were just a few of the faces passing through the canvas of our minds. We provided them with medicines for their ailments, offered health advice, helped them feel relaxed, and assured them of our continued services.
Children are busy; they don't have time to take care of their parents, so they have left them here—this was the reason written on each parent's bland face. Would it be possible to have a social status and prestigious career if our parents had also neglected us due to their busy schedules and time constraints? With a heavy heart, as we stepped out of that old age home, this was the question that lingered in our minds.
