Apart from providing counselling services, Samadhan is engaged in conducting Life Skills Education to High School Students (Designed by NIMHANS) ‘Classroom Management’, ‘Workshops for Teachers’, ‘Parenting Skills’ workshop for parents. an is headed by its Director Mr.S.Krishnaswamy, Counselling Psychologist. He has more than three decades of experience in dealing with diverse groups of people. Samadhan comprises of 25 trained counsellors. Our facilitators are specially trained and certified by NIMHANS to impart this module of Life Skills Education. We suggest that it be done once a week as the last period on a Saturday when the school works for half a day only. We also suggest imparting this Life Skills Education programmes in the beginning of the academic year as it helps the students to cope with the pressure nearer the exams. As a mission to promote healthy living styles among youngsters, we offer this programmes to the High School Children at an affordable price.

Be bold, take decisions, stay confident, believe that you can change your life the way you want, don't label any situation as bad and difficult, simply accept it and move on. In one word these qualities are called RESILIENCE.
One young beautiful lady smartly dressed was walking elegantly on the ramp in a fashion show competition. Suddenly her slipper broke and she fell down. For a moment there was gloom and silence among audience and judges. Next moment she got up, removed her slippers and started walking bare foot with the same elegance, the applause of the audience sounded like a heavy downpore. It's called resilience.
Tenacity to feel and act as if you are confident and influential, staying calm and confident even in adverse situation. Not blaming others or circumstances is called ' An internal locus of control '
We are all born with same resilience, enhancing it is a conscious act done throughout life step by step. Resilience moves you towards sense of achievement and success.

There is lot of myth about mental health counseling therefore I thought it fit to write what counseling really means.
Counseling or therapy is a process where counselor and client work in collaboration. Counselor assures the client that the entire process of counseling will be kept confidential, however counseor can break the confidentiality understanding in case of impending self harm or harm to others
Counselor listen to client's narration fully without judgement and bias, this makes the client feel ' I can be who I am really' with the counselor.
By asking various questions counselor tries to understand the client's personality, her strength, weakness and vulnerability. Once the counselor understand the client and issues in it's true sense, the counselor helps the client to set the goals of Counseling and explain what he or she intend to do in order to help her, and what cooperation is expected from her, and then takes her concent to proceed further with the sessions
By engaging the client in dynamic dialogue and giving home work inbetween two sessions, the counselor discuss the merits and demerits of the homework with the client. This process helps the client to reflect on the issues in multiple ways and adopt modification be it the way of thinking, way of behaviour, way of communicating or way of perceiving. Some times the counselor gently challenges the unhelpful assumptions held by the client, this process empowers the client with new skills to handle herself and her problems.
During the entire process of counseling counseor empathyses with the client and demonstrate it verbally and by gestures. This makes her feel that I am understood and accepted by the counselor.
