This little pup was rescued from the streets and tested positive for Parvovirus—a highly contagious and often deadly disease, especially for unvaccinated puppies.

👉 What is Parvo?

A viral infection that attacks a dog’s stomach and intestines, causing severe vomiting, diarrhea (often with blood), dehydration, and weakness.

👉 How does it spread?

Through direct contact with infected dogs, or even contaminated surfaces, shoes, or soil.

👉 Can it be prevented?

YES! Through timely vaccinations. 🩺✨

💡 If you’ve just welcomed a puppy into your life, remember:

✅ Vaccinate on time
✅ Keep them away from stray dogs until shots are complete
✅ Maintain good hygiene

Together, we can prevent countless pups from suffering this painful disease. 🐶💙

Pets are curious explorers — and sometimes that curiosity can be dangerous. 🐾

Little Judu, our Shih Tzu friend, swallowed an earbud today. Thanks to timely intervention, we made him vomit and ensured he was safe and sound.

⚠️ Reminder for all pet parents:

Always keep small objects out of reach — earbuds, coins, rubber bands, and toys can cause serious emergencies if ingested.

If your pet swallows something unusual, don’t wait. Seek immediate veterinary care.

This is what neglect can look like… 💔

What began as a tiny wound on this cat’s limb was left untreated for weeks — eventually eating its way down to the bone.

By the time he was brought in, the tissue damage was severe and life-threatening.

Our surgical team at Blue Ridge Pet Specialty Hospital worked tirelessly to remove infected tissue and save whatever was left of the limb.

Swipe to see how timely medical intervention can still create hope.✨

Please don’t ignore even the smallest cut, bite, or swelling on your pet.

Early treatment = less pain, fewer complications and a better chance at survival.

🐾 When in doubt — check it out!

The Blue Ridge Pet Speciality Healthcare and Research Centre

It was the year 1986. A fresh batch of young minds graduated out of the Veterinary College in Hebbal, Bangalore to become the vanguards of the veterinary profession, some of whom would go on to become successful practitioners. One such bright young man was Dr Michel G Morton. Inspired by the life and times of James Herriot, he started his career as a pet practitioner focussing only on house calls.

In a career spanning 30 successful years, he has successfully created a large client base of contented pet parents, spread across the length and breadth of the city, Over the years, with the city gradually changing to meet the needs of its burgeoning IT industry, Dr Morton noticed that pet parenting also evolved dramatically and so did the demands and expectations of his client base, who now had easy access to information, a better disposable income but paucity of time. In the last few years, he noticed a demand for heightened attention to detail, with focus on scientific diagnosis and treatment of pets, along with emergence of new trends like pet grooming, pet behavioural study and professional pet training. At the same time, several exclusive pet stores were mushrooming 'ad hoc' all over the city, selling pet accessories, pet food, etc.

Determined to ensure his loyal set of clients are catered to well, Dr Morton decided to open a 'one-stop-shop' for all pet needs. And this is how, 'The Blue Ridge Pet Speciality Healthcare & Research Centre ' was born. Located in Kothanur, off the Hennur- Bagalur Road in Bangalore, it opened its doors to its first clients in April 2017. The Blue Ridge's goal is to provide the highest quality veterinary care that is convenient and delivered consistently with compassion and care. The facility is spacious, hygienic, state-of-the-art and well stocked with medicines and pet food for dogs and cats of all hues, age shapes & sizes.

In 2019, Dr Morton and Dr Swathi also joined hands to start the ‘The Blue Ridge Animal Welfare Trust’ that provides first aid to street animals free of cost.
