Personality Disorders remain among the most challenging mental health conditions to treat – globally. They demand more than textbook knowledge. They call for clinical skill, self-reflection, and collective learning.

That’s exactly what unfolded on 26th July, when over 120 mental health professionals (including 100+ psychiatrists), came together for the latest edition of Sukoon Learn, our educational and co-learning forum for India’s mental health community.

This edition of the CME (Continued Medical Education) explored ‘Managing Severe Personality Disorders: Blending the Art, the Science, and the Pragmatism’. Our Executive Director of Psychiatry Services, Dr. Satish Ramaiah moderated and navigated the discussions. Leading the dialogue were our keynote speakers, Dr. Vishal Indla, a renowned doctor who shared great clinical insights for treating personality disorders, and Ms. Shobha Managoli who helped us understand how self-reflection and interpersonal skills are just as critical as clinical tools.

The dialogue deepened with thought-provoking presentations by Dr. Smitha Manjunath, Dr. Ravikumar Bellubi, Dr. Arpitha Krishna and Dr. Sharan Roy Chowdhury from Team Sukoon.

It’s a joy to keep learning and growing – especially together. Sukoon Learn remains our commitment to foster professional growth, innovation and development in the field of mental health. A heartfelt thank you to every expert who attended our CME. We look forward to transforming mental healthcare in India – together.

Recently, the Rotary Club of Delhi Southend held a ‘Hope Beyond Addiction’ seminar, where leading voices in the field of addiction and mental health came together to raise awareness about to***co and substance abuse.

Dr. Jatin Tarwani (Clinical Lead, Addiction Services - Sukoon Health) was one of the powerful voices amongst the distinguished panel members. He spoke of the psychological roots of addiction and the importance of trauma-informed, long-term care. He also highlighted how recovery is a deeply human journey—one that thrives on compassion, collective action, and community support.

The event was a powerful moment of connection, shared purpose, and hope. A step toward changing the way we see and support recovery.

A day to honour those who pave the path for recovery — National Doctor’s Day at Sukoon Bengaluru celebrated their unwavering dedication.

It’s a privilege to witness their compassion leave a lasting mark — on the lives of our residents, and the families who walk alongside them. Grateful for their care, every day.

Years back our doctors took the road less travelled. They chose psychiatry to offer compassionate care to those struggling with severe mental health disorders.

Stigma followed them at every step, yet they kept marching forward.

Because they dared to dream, we are here today - transforming mental healthcare in India. It’s a true privilege to watch them bring healing and hope into people’s lives every day.

Happy Doctors’ Day! 💚

Playing sports is one of the most powerful tutors for someone on their path to recovery. And at our Recovery & Rise Sports Day, we saw exactly that!

Last week our centre came alive at our 3-day event where our residents showed up to move, reconnect and experience a new way of healing. From a sudoku championship and swimming to chess, archery, and snooker, our multidisciplinary team thoughtfully designed each of the 10 games. Together, they encouraged physical movement, cognitive focus, and sensory-motor engagement, while helping build confidence and self-worth.

And yes, there were prizes too. But the real win was something deeper.

The event was transformative. In those shared moments, our residents reclaimed parts of themselves; the strength they didn’t know they had, a renewed sense of joy and the powerful truth that we walk this journey together.

Is yoga the same as yoga therapy?
Here’s an important distinction no one talks about.

While yoga is often seen as universally beneficial, for many - especially those living with trauma, anxiety, ADHD, or depression - it can feel anything but calming. Even something as simple as lying in Savasana can trigger a stress response.

This doesn’t mean yoga cannot benefit them.
It simply means they may need a different approach.

Trauma-informed yoga therapy meets individuals where they are—guided by trained therapists who help rebuild a sense of safety, slowly and gently, through movement.

At Sukoon, yoga therapy is an integral part of our holistic care. Our therapists personalise routines that support the emotional and physical well-being of our residents – with compassion and deep clinical insight.

If you wish to learn more about yoga therapy, our team of experts are here to help.

Are Indian healthcare systems in 2025 ready to respond to mental health emergencies?🚨

This weekend, 35+ psychiatrists joined Team Sukoon at our latest Sukoon Learn CME, held in collaboration with the Kolar Psychiatry Society. Themed ‘Navigating Challenges in Emergency Psychiatry: From Community to Hospitals’, the session explored urgent questions around preparedness and access to psychiatric emergency care.

We also shared insights from MERA Sukoon, our 24x7 Mental Health Emergency Retrieval and Admission Service, and the positive impact it has made so far.

Because in moments of crisis, it’s not just clinical skill that saves lives: it’s also well-prepared, compassionate systems. And building those systems starts with conversations like Sukoon Learn.

Our heartfelt thanks to all attendees. We look forward to transforming mental healthcare in India - together.

Did you know that 8.4% of 13–14-year-old school kids in India use to***co? (Global Youth To***co Survey 2019).

Taking a powerful step to address this, Blue Bells School in Gurugram hosted a debate competition on ***coDay that brought schools and healthcare experts together.

Team Sukoon was proud to be part of this important conversation. Dr. Vipul Rastogi, Clinical Regional Head, Gurugram, inspired young minds as a respected judge on the debate panel. Meanwhile, our interactive stall gave students a space to learn more about to***co through the medium of play.

At Sukoon, we believe young minds deserve a to***co-free future — and through consistent efforts, we’re committed to making this a reality.

Who is a caregiver, beyond the care they give?

A mother. A husband. A friend. A person with their own dreams, fears, and routines.

When someone they love develops a mental health condition, they become caregivers overnight—without training, without warning, and driven only by love.

On World Schizophrenia Day (24th May), we hosted a Caregivers’ Meet at our Bengaluru facility. What unfolded was powerful—shared stories, honest reflection, and a community finding strength in each other.

At Sukoon, we see the weight caregivers carry: the emotional labour and the quiet worry. And yet, they show up. Every single day.

To every caregiver - your journey matters. And we will walk with you, every step of the way.

This weekend, we had the privilege of attending and being an integral part of a CME hosted by the Hyderabad Psychiatric Society.

Chaired by Dr. K. Chandrashekhar, Sr. Consultant Psychiatrist at Asha Hospital, the event brought together 45 leading psychiatrists from across the city for a day of meaningful dialogue, new connections, and a shared commitment to advancing mental health care in Hyderabad.

Team Sukoon Hyderabad led a powerful session on “Navigating Psychiatric Emergencies – From Community to Hospitals.” Delivered by Dr. Satish Ramaiah (Executive Director – Psychiatric Services, Sukoon) and Dr. Niveditha Samala (Clinical Head – Psychiatry Centre, Sukoon Hyderabad), the session brought attention to the often-overlooked yet urgent realities of psychiatric emergencies. At the heart of this conversation was MERA Sukoon, our 24x7 Mental Health Emergency Response and Admissions Services, which was met with an encouraging response.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to highlight the work we’re most passionate about and deeply appreciate the enthusiasm it received. A sincere thank you to the Hyderabad Psychiatric Society for the platform, and to every psychiatrist in attendance who continues to advocate for better mental health care in the region.

At Sukoon, we are transforming mental healthcare in India. And we cannot wait to serve the people of Hyderabad next on our journey.
