YOGAMASTERJI
About sixty years ago, when I was going to yoga class, many of my peers and those who were participating in various sports activities, were teasing me and were making fun of yoga which was seen as a practice of those people who would lead to a life of recluse. But there were people in the yoga class. People during those days were attending only one yoga school and had only one Guru. Whatever their guru taught, those people were confined to that teaching practising and perfecting it. Rarely was seen a desire them to go to another guru. ‘I am happy to practise and perfect what my guru has taught me. When my guru thinks that I need to learn from another guru and advises me to go to another guru, I may think of that.’ This was their attitude.
Today, I do not know, what is happening in the society. Society is having many types of yoga schools, varieties of yoga, and a battalion of yoga celebrities and teachers. Yoga shopping has become a fashion of the present-day students. They join one school after another and run after the teachers who are marketing self-invented types and styles of yoga. Who will think about that type and style of yoga, its meaning and importance? Why should I learn this and what is the use of that style for me? Is it necessary for me to learn that?
No doubt, I am a simpleton and think that yoga is a practice to control the thoughts of mind. I am waiting for information that helps me to understand the interest of these people in yoga and curious to know about the way that these types of yoga bring the control of the thought of mind.
