Ramaiah Dental College & Hospital is one of the educational units of M.S Ramaiah Group of Institutions, which is managed and run by Gokula Education Foundation. Ramaiah Dental College & Hospital is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore and is approved by Dental Council of India (DCI), New Delhi. mes in the discipline of dental sciences - Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). Both these courses are offered by as per the strict guidelines of the Dental Council of India. The Institution function with separate departments for all the subjects with the best possible practical/lab/clinical sections. All the clinical departments are computerized and linked through the Intranet. The most advanced Digital X-Ray systems and Diagnostic aids , Dental Soft wares, the latest Restorative equipments and materials, keep the students in lieu with the rapidly progressing dental sciences. A trauma center in collaboration with the Medical hospital is a specialty by itself.

Our Story

The Faculty offers a 4-year undergraduate programme including one year internship leading to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree and a 3-year postgraduate programme leading to the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) degree.

The Faculty offers postgraduate programmes in:

Oral Medicine and Radiology

Periodontics

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

Oral Pathology and Microbiology

Public Health Dentistry

Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry

Prosthodontics including Crown and Bridge

The Faculty also offers Certificate programmes in Esthetic Dentistry and Oral Implantology and a Doctoral research programme leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree.

The programmes and curriculum offered by the faculty adhere to norms prescribed by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The curriculum offered is outcome based and helps students to develop critical thinking abilities and to imbibe relevant practical skills for a smooth transition from academics to real life work environment. Opportunities are provided for students to do their internship in India or abroad depending upon their preference. Alumni of the Faculty are working for quality healthcare organisations in India and abroad and while many have established successful practices of their own.

The faculty has an attached dental hospital with more than 250 dental chairs, laboratories and other facilities for providing clinical services. Students are trained at the attached hospital as well as adopted hospitals in urban and rural areas around Bangalore. There are around 75 members of faculty and 400 students. Members of the faculty are well trained in research and present their research findings at various forums and publish more than 50 papers, annually, in peer reviewed journals. The Faculty also has an active dental education unit that supports and provides for innovation in medical education. The Department of Public Health Dentistry plays a very active role in inculcating a sense of social responsibility through regular dental camps, community orientation programmes and school dental health programmes. The faculty has collaboration agreements with dental Schools in Hongkong, Ghent University. The faculty also publishes the Journal of Orofacial & Dental Research which is internationally peer reviewed. In addition, hospital provides special care clinics for geriatric care, handicapped children, oral cancer patients, to***co cessation centre etc...
