Sharon joined us in October as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She has a strong clinical foundation, supported by OPT Level 1 training and her ongoing coursework in Gestalt Language Processing (GLP).

We asked parents to decide : Myth or Fact?
Here’s what they found out👇

1️⃣ AAC can delay speech development: Myth
AAC actually supports speech and language growth by giving children a voice early.

2️⃣ AAC is complicated and difficult to use: Myth
With the right support, AAC is simple to learn and use. Families pick it up quickly!

3️⃣ AAC supports anyone who has difficulty expressing themselves, not just children with ASD: Fact

4️⃣ A child who is young is not ready for AAC: Myth
Even toddlers can use AAC. It can be tailored to their developmental level.

5️⃣ AAC should be introduced early. It’s a support, not a backup plan: Fact

Meet Li Yan Nee!
We’re thrilled to welcome Li Yan Nee, our new Speech-Language Pathologist, who joined us this October!

With a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and certifications in OPT (Oral Placement Therapy) Level 1 and FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), she brings both expertise and compassion to our team.
She has also completed a Pediatric Auditory Rehabilitation program for children with cochlear implants a reflection of her dedication to helping every voice find its strength. Currently, she’s also pursuing GLP (Gestalt Language Processing), further expanding her clinical skillset.

We’re so happy to have her as part of the SpeakUp family here’s to new beginnings and meaningful connections!
