National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bengaluru, officials, faculty members, and P.G Scholars took part in the Govt. of India’s awareness program “Nasha Mukt Bharat” - Pledge Against Drug Abuse. The pledge was first administered by Prof. Saiyad Shah Alam, Director of NIUM, and was repeated by all participants with a firm commitment to support a drug-free society.
Prof. A.M.K. Sherwani is the coordinator of this programme, with Dr. Mohd Asjad Khan, Clinical Registrar and Dr. Ilyas Patel (Ph.D. Scholar) assisting in its smooth ex*****on. The campaign “Nasha Mukt Bharat” will continue at NIUM until 31st August 2025 through awareness activities among students, staff, and patients.
Drug abuse has emerged as a serious public health concern, affecting the physical, mental, and social well-being of individuals. It not only hampers academic and professional growth but also leads to family and societal distress. Through this pledge, NIUM reaffirms its responsibility to educate the community, spread awareness, and contribute to building a healthier, drug-free nation.
