Prabha Eye Clinic was started in 1940 by Dr. B K Narayana Rao, he was one of the first Indian Ophthalmologists qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons, London. He also played a major role in the establishment of various medical institutes and hospitals like the Bangalore Medical College and Minto Regional Institute of Ophthalmology. Dr. H Krishnamurthy took over from where Dr. BK Narayana Rao had left, and played a pivotal role in establishing Prabha as a one of its kind institutes in the entire country. Over the next few decades Dr. H Krishnamurthy extended Prabha Eye Clinic’s services into philanthropic efforts by providing free treatment to the deserving poor. Dr. Krishnamurthy Ramachandra Murthy was the visionary who was responsible for the growth and transformation of Prabha Eye Clinic and Research Centre into a cutting edge eye care center. Dr. Krishnamurthy has excelled and contributed a great deal to the field of Ophthalmology in India.
