ical assistance to the state and in capacity building for the department of Health and Family Welfare. The goal of this institution is to improve health outcomes by facilitating governance reforms health systems innovations and improved information sharing among all stake holders at the national, state, district and sub-district levels through specific capacity development and convergence models. Also it will proactively identify the issues/ gaps/ deficiencies in the health system and work towards solving them
It has a governing board, chaired by the Principal Secretary, Government of Karnataka with the Mission Director, NRHM as the Vice Chairperson of the board and the Chairperson of its Executive Committee and other 14 members. Of the total 16 members, 9 are senior health administrators from the state. There are 6 public health experts from academic institutions like PHFI & IIPH and civil society. The Executive Director, KSHSRC is the Member Secretary of both the board and the Executive Committee. Governing Board of KSHSRC meets annually. KSHSRC being internal technical support system to Department of Health and Family Welfare work closely with Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust, Ayurveda Yoga Unani Siddha and Homeopathy & Karnataka Health System Development and Reforms Project and other units of Department of Health and Family Welfare and functions from its office in KSHSRC, office of State Institute of health & family welfare premises, Magadi Road, Bangalore 560023. The KSHSRC currently consists of eight divisions – Public Health Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, Community Processes, and Human Resources for Health, Financing of Healthcare, and Quality Improvement in Healthcare, Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Research & Documentation. Major functions carried out by KSHSRC:
Developed operational guidelines for Non communicable diseases, NUHM to the state health department
Produced quick situational analysis on HMIS, Planning, NUHM, and NHM of health sector. Promoted Supportive Supervision which promotes transparency, accountability and probity in governance. Prepared 5 year strategic document for VAS for the consideration of the Government based on the analysis and specific studies. Conducted workshops and meetings on Supportive supervision NUHM, MLC/MLAs on behalf of the GoK for effective operationalization of the health reforms process. Provided training and capacity building to all the district & block level officers on DHAP. Provided technical assistance, leadership and management on Vajpayee Arogya shree, NUHM, DHAP, Supportive supervision. Assisted ASHA program in terms of monitoring the capacity building programs of ASHA
Undertaken various research and technical support activities to other organization like SAST. Guidelines on NCD and an information booklet for MLA/MLCs were published in furthering the NHM objectives
