Bangalore Kidney Foundation
BKF founded in 5th February 1979 is a leading non-profit organisation in the State of Karnataka, dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease benefiting a large number of patients from marginalised sections of society and their families. To provide regular dialysis with total dialysis care to all patients at affordable charges, create awareness on kidney diseases at every opportunity, and to focus on kidney disease prevention in young adults by conducting screening camps in schools and colleges.
Our Vision Our Vision for dialysis patients is “LIFE LIVED AND NOT LIFE EXISTING”
Our Mission To provide regular dialysis with total dialysis care to all patients at affordable charges, create awareness on kidney diseases at every opportunity, and to focus on kidney disease prevention in young adults by conducting screening camps in schools and colleges. Why Dialysis :
About two million people have critical kidney disease and require either dialysis or a kidney transplant. Due to lack of access to dialysis and due to economic reasons, only 10-12% undergo dialysis. The urban poor have access but are unable to undergo regular dialysis for economic conditions. BKF ensures regular dialysis by a combination of affordable charge/free/subsidised dialysis. Beyond dialysis, BKF ensures nutrition, medication, diagnostic tests to patients. In the absence of a kidney transplant, regular dialysis is an alternative to enable the patient to lead a useful life.
