*The Second Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur *
The Second Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) was conducted from 20–22 January 2026 under the aegis of the Medical Education Unit at BGS Medical College and Hospital, Nagarur.
The programme was held with the Divine Blessings of Parampoojya Jagadguru Padmabhushana Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and Paramapoojya Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, Chancellor.
It was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. K.S. Gangadhara (Dean) and executed by Dr. Satish S. Patil (MEU Coordinator) along with the Medical Education Unit and Curriculum Committee.
The mandatory NMC-aligned workshop was observed by Dr. Natesh Prabhu R., Professor, Department of Critical Care Medicine, St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru.
Day 1 featured sessions by Dr. Venkatesh P, Dr. Murali B.M., Dr. Sangeetha S, Dr. Spoorthy S, Dr. Jyothi S, Dr. Satish S. Patil, and Dr. Sandeep T, focusing on learning objectives, teaching-learning methods, assessment principles, and internal assessment strategies.
Day 2 included sessions by Dr. Satish S. Patil, Dr. Kruttika Naik, Dr. K.S. Gangadhara, Dr. Gireesh P, Dr. Sangeetha S, Dr. Shubha Praveen, and Dr. Pooja Raikar, covering AETCOM competencies, self-directed learning, clinical teaching, blueprinting, and question paper setting.
Day 3 highlighted sessions by Dr. Jyothi S, Dr. Dhanush H, Dr. Pooja R. Raikar, Dr. Gireesh P, Dr. Sandyarani D.C., Dr. Satish S. Patil, and Dr. Suma M.P., focusing on lesson planning, skill assessment, mentoring, and competency-based timetable drafting, followed by post-test and reflective feedback.
Aligned with the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework prescribed by the National Medical Commission, the three-day workshop strengthened faculty expertise in structured teaching, assessment benchmarks, and quality assurance.
The programme concluded successfully with active participation, interactive engagement, and reaffirmed commitment to academic excellence and continuous professional development at BGS MCH.
