No other species has given up its connection with mother earth the way us humans have. We are the only beings that sleep on soft, fluffy beds and pillows, and are the only ones that wear synthetic "footwear". We go about our lives having literally caged and insulated ourselves from all natural, direct contact with the earth - and funnily, we expect to have "freedom".
Science tells that we are electric beings living in an electric world. What we call our body is a simple, but sophisticated arrangement of cells, molecules and atoms all made of electric charge - and it is the play of charges that run the show we call "life".
All chemistry in the body involves charges. And when the body's overall charge is off-balance, important chemical reactions required for healthy functions are disrupted, causing undesirable reactions. This is the basis for imbalances which later arise as symptoms - and if they/we continue in our faulty ways long enough, they actively contribute to disease.
Science also tells us that our everyday activities build a positive charge in the body. The Earth has been proven to have a cyclical negative charge which effectively balances out our built-up, static positive charge. And while most of our planet's organisms haven't particularly been studying electrochemistry, they have been actively neutralising these charges through their natural, direct contact with the earth. And not so long ago we did this, too.
It is only in the past few hundred years that we seem to have given up the muddy path. We have erased that all-important primal connection from our collective memories to profit sports brands and designer labels all for sake of our status and (dis)comfort. Electrons moved freely back then when we had no shoes and slippers - neutralising our bodies, preventing the build-up of static charge.
