As promised… COSMI is coming to Chennai ✨

Cohort 13 of our flagship

Comprehensive Sensory Motor Intervention (COSMI) for Pediatric Feeding & Swallowing is happening for the very first time in Chennai.

Over the years, COSMI has brought together clinicians across Asia who wanted to look deeper into feeding beyond just “eating”, through a neuro-sensory-motor lens.

✨ 250+ clinicians across Asia (*alumni)
✨ 130+ page researched manual
✨ In-person learning + case discussions
✨ Indian clinical context + interdisciplinary perspective

📍 Chennai
📅 26th & 27th June 2026

Excited to meet Chennai clinicians soon ❤️

In this masterclass, we will explore Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) through a neuro-sensory-motor lens to understanding how the brain, body, sensory system, regulation, and motor learning all work together to support communication.

If you work with children who are difficult to understand, inconsistent in speech, or struggling to coordinate speech movements, the this session will help you look deeper.

📅 23rd May 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM IST
💻 Live Online Masterclass

Let’s make a difference ✨

PFD is not about a child being “difficult” with food.

It is described as difficulty with oral intake that is not age-appropriate and may be connected to medical, nutritional, feeding-skill, and/or psychosocial factors.

Feeding is a whole-body experience. It involves the nervous system, the gut, the mouth, the face, posture, muscles, breathing, sensory processing, and the child’s sense of safety.

In the same way, Childhood Apraxia of Speech is not a child “refusing to talk properly.” ASHA describes CAS as a neurological speech sound condition where the child has difficulty with the precision and consistency of speech movements, especially in planning and programming the movement sequences needed for speech.

Eating involves sucking, chewing, swallowing, breathing, coordination, and regulation. Swallowing alone requires the coordination of six cranial nerves and more than 30 muscles.

So when a child struggles to eat or speak, we need to look deeper.

🛑 Pause. Let’s rethink this.

When a child feels safe, regulated, and understood, they naturally begin to engage… connect… and communicate.

And yes - sometimes,
👀 eye contact follows.

But when we demand eye contact, we may be:
– Increasing anxiety
– Reducing authentic communication
– Teaching performance, not connection

Research around the eye avoidance and camouflaging in autism suggests that many autistic individuals may avoid eye contact due to neural processing differences or sensory overload.

👉 So what should we focus on instead?

✨ Shared moments
✨ Joyful interactions
✨ Regulation
✨ Following the child’s lead
✨ Building relatedness

Because at the end of the day, 🗣️ Communication matters more than eye contact
