Interstitial lung abnormalities, or ILA, are increasingly being identified on CT scans performed for unrelated indications. Although often subtle, these findings may represent early interstitial lung disease and can have significant clinical implications if overlooked.

Dr Suraj presents an insightful session focused on recognising and categorising ILA, understanding their prognostic relevance, and adopting a structured reporting approach. The discussion will emphasise practical aspects that help radiologists confidently differentiate incidental changes from early disease.

Two decades ago, ILDs were grouped into a relatively simple set of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. It was a starting point — but as clinicians, radiologists and pathologists kept comparing notes, the gaps quickly became obvious. The 2013 revision brought much-needed structure: defined HRCT patterns, clearer diagnostic pathways and a stronger push for multidisciplinary discussion. Fast forward to 2025, and our approach is even more refined, recognising biological behaviour, progressive phenotypes and the central role of imaging. This session traces that journey — from where we began to where ILD classification stands today.

The Society of Chest Imaging and Intervention (SCII) is proud to launch a dedicated Thoracic Group - a focused academic and clinical forum created to strengthen education, research collaboration, and case-based learning in thoracic imaging.

Why this initiative?
Thoracic radiology is one of the fastest-growing domains in imaging. From ILD and oncology to emergency care and advanced interventions, the field is evolving rapidly - and our community needs a space to learn together, share complex cases, and advance best practices.

What this new group aims to do:
🔹 Create a national network of thoracic imaging enthusiasts
🔹 Host regular case discussions and teaching sessions
🔹 Develop high-yield learning modules
🔹 Promote research and guidelines-based practice
🔹 Support trainees and early-career radiologists
🔹 Foster multidisciplinary collaboration

SCIICON 2025: A Milestone in Thoracic Imaging — Reflections from Chennai

What an incredible few days at SCIICON 2025, the 7th Annual Meeting of the Society of Chest Imaging & Intervention (SCII)! Held in Chennai from 31st October to 2nd November, this year’s conference brought together some of the brightest minds in thoracic radiology and intervention.

🔍 Highlights from the Conference:

A powerful theme: Exploring the synergy between AI and radiology in thoracic imaging — and what the future holds for patient care.

Distinguished national and international faculty, including leading radiologists and interventional experts, who delivered cutting-edge talks and hands-on training.

Unique collaboration with IIT Madras, making the scientific program even richer and more technologically forward-looking.

Interactive formats: Case-based learning, workshops, mock MDTs, a grand national quiz, and plenary lectures ensured that learning was both deep and practical.

A beautiful venue: The conference was held at the ICSR Building, IIT Madras, providing a stimulating academic and architectural backdrop.

Networking and innovation: Delegates shared original research, presented abstracts, and engaged in vibrant discussions about the future of chest imaging and interventions.
