Meet Shilpa P., a young and talented artist from our GHS School, Srirampura!

At 17, she is redefining possibilities through her artistic brilliance, proving that her hearing impairment is no limit to her creativity. She began her artistic journey in 8th grade and has since developed an impressive portfolio that includes landscapes, Mandala art, traditional art forms, free-hand designs, self-portraits, and intricate line drawings.

Recently, Shilpa had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Chittara Art Workshop at the National Gallery of Modern Art, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Her work stood out and earned her heartfelt appreciation from the organizers and art lovers alike. They were so impressed with her talent that they promised to provide her with further training to nurture her skills.

Shilpa lives with her proud parents, Nagarathnamma and Puttaraju, in Srirampuram, Bengaluru. Her story is a shining example of how art can empower, inspire, and break barriers.

School Readiness Center for Children with Disabilities Inaugurated at Malleshwaram Government School

A School Readiness Center for children with disabilities was inaugurated today at the Malleshwaram Government School, Bengaluru. This important initiative is a joint collaboration between the Department of Education, The Association of People with Disability (APD), and Sama Foundation.

The Hon’ble MLA, Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, attended the event as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the facility. He commended the efforts of all partners involved, highlighting the critical role of inclusive education in building an equitable society.

The center aims to provide early intervention, therapeutic support, and foundational learning for children with disabilities, preparing them for seamless integration into mainstream schools.

This collaboration stands as a model of how government and civil society organizations can work together to advance inclusive and quality education for all children.

We celebrated May Day with our dedicated staff and their families. The purpose of this special gathering was to help our families understand and appreciate the noble work we are all part of.

A deeply moving moment came when we screened a video featuring our beneficiaries, sharing how their lives have changed through the support of the Sama team. It was an emotional experience for many, as families saw firsthand the powerful impact their loved ones are making every day.

Celebrating Growth, Confidence & New Beginnings!

Today marked a proud moment for all of us at Sama Foundation and Manal Foundation as we came together to celebrate the successful completion of the SkillUp training program with a heartwarming certificate distribution ceremony.

With dignitaries from both organizations in attendance, the event was a celebration of not just certificates, but of transformation.

Our students—who began their journey with varying levels of computer skills—shared inspiring stories of how the classes have helped them:
- Gain job-ready skills
- Improve proficiency in tools like MS Office and Tally
- Build confidence and communication
- Take meaningful steps toward their career goals

From beginners to advanced learners, everyone leveled up, proving that learning never stops when you have the right support and guidance.

This ceremony isn’t just an end—it’s a stepping stone into a brighter future. We are so proud of each and every one of our SkillUp graduates and wish them continued success on their professional journeys.

Strengthening Urban Resilience: Reflections from Sama Foundation

Sama Foundation was honoured to participate in a Round Table on building resilience in the urban context, organised with the support of the Bengaluru Sustainability Forum (BSF).

Our representatives — Vinodini and two young leaders from DJ Halli — contributed actively, sharing experiences from the ground and highlighting the voices of communities often left out of urban conversations.

We are grateful to BSF for creating a space that was intentionally bilingual and inclusive, enabling broader participation and deeper dialogue.

• Exploring new, community-driven interventions,
• Recognising the importance of continued collaboration and inclusive processes.
