We successfully managed a series of challenging cases -
1. A 2 year old child swallowed a silicon tip of a dart gun. The tip was stuck on the posterior wall of Upper Oesophagus and removed after gentle manipulation.
2. A 1 year old child got a piece of Supari stuck in his Left Main Bronchus, blocking air entry to left Lung. It was successfully removed using Optical forceps.
3. A 45 Year old lady had a Fish bone stuck in her throat. She was seen by 3 ENTs and counseled that there was nothing and it will stop hurting soon. The bone was visualized by flexible endoscopy and removed under Local Anaesthesia.
4. A 5 month old baby with history of Intubation at age 1 month presented with progressive breathing difficulty. Significant post-intubation subglottic stenosis was found which was treated Trans-orally using Laser and Balloon Dilatation. The baby is now 8 months old, has no breathing difficulty, and has caught up with weight according to age.
5. 6 month Old baby with significant failure to thrive (weight 2.5kg) and stridor was diagnosed as having Grade 3 Laryngomalacia and underwent Supraglottoplasty. Post-operatively, breathing and feeding improved, and child has started gaining weight.
6. A new born baby was diagnosed with Bilateral Bony Choanal Atresia. Child underwent surgery at 4 days of age - Trans nasal endoscopic Choanoplasty with drilling of bony obstruction was done. Stents were put in place for 2 weeks. Baby is doing well with large patent posterior nares after 1 month.
