The Cardiff Pediatric Acuity Test was designed specifically for acuity measurement in children ages 6 months to 3 years. The test may also be helpful in other age groups for people with intellectual impairment, dementia, head injury, or stroke.A recent study in Optometry and Vision Science comparing the Cardiff Acuity Testing and Teller Acuity Cards II in school-age children with visual, auditory, motor and cognitive impairment showed that both give similar estimates of acuity, test-retest reliability and testing time. The Cardiff Acuity Test is half the cost of a full set of Teller Acuity Cards II while containing more cards to test acuity with.The Cardiff card set in composed of 36 cards providing 24 acuity levels that can be used at either 1 meter or 1/2 meter testing distance with acuity ranging from 20/160 to 20/12.5 equivalent (6/48 to 6/3.75); Butterfly Occluder Glasses are also inlcuded.

The Laminated HRR (Hardy Rand and Rittler) Pseudoisochromatic Test, 4th Edition provides several very important features to provide the most advanced Color Vision, test available: congenital and acquired testing, identification of the type of defect and diagnosis of the extent of the defect as well as quick positive classification of normals. The HRR employs a sophisticated test strategy that virtually eliminates the potential for memorization and malingering. The figures used by the HRR Pseudoisochromatic Plates are independent of language and suitable for both adults and children.

Special nonglare laminate has been tested using a spectrometer to insure the colors are unchanged. Helps avoid fingerprints and damage to the plates.

The HRR Pseudoisochromatic Plate Test 4th Edition supports very efficient color deficiency screening. The first four plates are used to show the patient how the test works. The fourth plate in this demonstration series has no figure and serves to potentially uncover attempts to memorize this test. The next six plates (screening series) present the most difficult protan, deutan and tritan (red, green, yellow, and blue) targets. Success with these plates defines the subject as having ‘normal Color Vision,’ and completes the test. The subsequent 14 plates are the diagnostic series and provide diagnostic as to the extent (mild, medium or strong) and type of defect (Protan, Deutan, Tritan).

This instrument is used for precise exophthalmos measurements (e.g. exophthalmic goiter). The basis of the measurement for exophthalmos determination using the Hertel version is the outer orbital rim (orbital wall) and the apex of the cornea. The integral refraction mirrors with millimeter scales for the left-hand and right-hand measuring halves of the exophthalmometer are calibrated so that the zero mark on the scale will be located in the plane of the resting points of the supports. For exophthalmos measurements the supports are placed against the two temporal orbital walls so that the orbital rim contacts the deepest point of the supports.

Pediatric Fixation Sticks
Pediatric Fixation sticks provide a series of detailed accommodation-stimulation targets for the young patient. The targets are calibrated for near. Included are (as examples) a clown face, a dog, a beach ball, etc. Each target is in brilliant color for patient ease.
